Which STTR remix is better: Timbalands or Trickys?

Timbaland (2014)

Tricky Stewart (2010)

I think Trickys remix is better than Timbalands, because it doesn't distract from Michaels voice with all these different sounds and I'm not a big fan of Timbalands voice. Trickys remix also hits harder.

I prefer the Tricky version yeah, timbaland shouting in his remix puts me off a lot, weird to me he'd insert himself like that.

Tricky's remix sux, because it sounds super cheap.

Mike would love Timbos mix, but he would have perfected it further if he was alive in 2014.
If this is true, I wonder, why he never worked with Timbaland.

afaik they had a phone call together, where Michael showed interest in working with him. somewhen in 2007-2008.

i don't say the STTR Timbo Mix is perfect, but i can see Michael liking that instrumental and perfect it with his ideas on top.

Trickys remix has that oomph, that Michael loved
Tricky about STTR:
One of them I worked on real heavy. A song called Slve to the Rhythem. LA and babyface wrote the record. By me having so much familiarity on their music it was lots of fun to beat those guys up. I really wanted to destroy the production on their own record laughs. So that was fun and when I played it for them they were blown away.

Tricky Stewart mix all the way. Its pop perfection, I loved it when I first heard it, and still do. I thought it was the original. The original doesn't do much for me. Timbaland's mix is horrible. Its just a collection of random digital sounds. More like noise, with no rhythm or purpose whatsoever. But if people like it, thats cool.

Of course Timbaland. Tricky version sounds, like it was made for BOTDF remixes album: gaudy and annoying. Too much show off. Actually both versions ruined Michael's main "dramatic" sounding, but Timbaland's version at least has decent structure. It can be used for a good dancing. Tricky version sounds too cliche and can be used only in some cheap clubs... not Michael Jackson's level...

and with Trickys version Michael has a techno song in his catalogue

Going by the instrumentals alone I prefer Timbaland's remix by a huge mile, but I don't think it really suits MJ's vocals so I prefer Tricky's remix just a slightly bit more.

Honestly though, the original is my favorite version overall since the simplicity of its instrumental emphasizes the strength of MJ's vocals, but if there was a solo version of Justin Bieber's Slave 2 The Rhythm mix that'd be the best version for me.

Tricky's version and Timbo's version are nothing alike. While Tricky produced a generic 2010s pop sounding remix, Timbo came up with a hip-hop oriented remix, closer to what MJ would have liked imo.
I feel like Max Methods' remix was a better approach to the 2010s pop sound.

omg... i 've just listened bieber version for the first time.... this version is so awful... it sucks... completely sucks

the more MJ vocals, the better. that's why I don't understand the love for the Bieber mix.

Looks like people don't even uderstand, what is this song about... Original demo has really dramatic meaning and vibe, which completely absent in bieber's and tricky's version... they sound buffoonish.... Timbaland has at least a little bit of tensity, that was in original demo....

MJ liked the straight punch in Unbreakable. That's why he would've loved Trickys mix.

you can tell a dramatic story with a happy rhythm. listen to this, it's a classic:

Well, the main speciality of STTR song is it's dramatic vibe! It's very important part. Changing it is not right!

there are no rules
That's my rule. That's how I estimate music. You don't have to do it like me, but that's my position

I'd say Trickys mix is for the dance floor, Timbalands not so much.

MJ always embraced new trends, he worked with Riley, Jerkins and Santana.
He also reworked songs in his vault.
That's why I can imagine him turning STTR into a techno song.

Michael hated techno. That's been known the entire time these remixes were about. He hated remixes but he explicitly hated techno. I need someone to find the quote for that though.

The Timbo version sounds basically like the original demo, juiced up, with Missy Elliot/Aaliyah elements. Like no one gets that. The album version is pretty busy though, I understand that not being enjoyable to the uninitiated.

This version sounds a bit smoother.
