JJ Abrams is making a TV show about the last days of Michael Jackson’s life
ShortList

Days before the seven year anniversary of the King of Pop's death, Star Wars director, producer and writer JJ Abrams has announced his plans to produce a one-off series about Michael Jackson's final months. The show will be based on the book Before You Judge Me: The Triumph and Tragedy of Michael Jackson’s Last Days by Tavis Smiley, an american talk show host and Jackson fan. The book - which was released today - is a non-fiction imagining of Jackson's experiences and an attempt by the author to getinside Jackson's head.
Abrams will work with Smiley on the event series for Warner Bros., and the pair are also currently turning Smiley's book about the death of Martin Luther King into a similar series.

The announcement of the show coincides with the discovery that Jackson hoarded teen porn and animal torture pictures.

Newly-released police reports revealed that when the star's house was raided in 2003, investigators found a stockpile of gruesome images, which included pictures of adult bodies with children's heads, animal sacrifice, and pictures of naked children.

District Attourney Ron Zonen, who helped prosecute Jackson, alleged: "This stuff was used to desensitise the children and Michael admitted taking one child after another to bed with him."

Whether or not JJ Abrams' series will explore this darker chapter of Jackson's life remains to be seen.

it never ends. Is any of this accurate?

^ yeah I heard about this... Now this book just blew up.. the biggest director/producer of today making a tv show about it!

I see on Amazon you can get a free audiobook with a trial... ;) if anyone can upload... I mean not upload... lol

I am feeling very defensive of Michael this week, so maybe I should step away before I respond to anything.

So I will say I hope that this project makes a serious attempt to look at things from Michael's perspective and not just what people thought, believed or assumed. I do not need to him to be blameless but also DEFINITELY do not want the take away to be it was all Michael's fault because he was 'rudderless' or refused to listen to people. SMDH.

For me context is everything. Everyone can dissect and analyse all they want but unless they put things in context, they are just spinning wheels.

When you look at what Michael went through, it would have been impossible for him not to be affected. People need to stop acting as though these things happened in a vacuum. I long for the day when someone in the media says "you know he said, he did this, but when you consider ... maybe we all would have reacted in the same way".

Sad sigh.

Love and miss you Michael.

this is from a new Radar Online fabricated story that is once again timed with Michael's death anniversary date. Since these stories are usually prompted by Wade Robsons legal team, it's being discussed with passion in the Robson thread.
Unfortunately it looks like the story is spreading like wildfire across the world.

"darker life"... this is so stupid... God I wish these people would actually study before saying whatever for attention/money

If Michael's final months are worthy of mini series, I think his trial will be made to mini series too like they did to OJ Simpson trial.
If they do, they'd better get TMezz on board the oversee that everything is presented accurately.

Here's a very good interview with Tavis about the book, by Lenny Green from The Quiet Storm show, on 107.5 FM...

Precisely. I don't mind people asking questions, or talking about things like the allegations. But when they say he was a pedophile or a chronic drug user, I want to tear their heads off. Michael was no saint; he had a lot of problems. Some were of his own making, while others were responsible for the bulk of it. Having said that, he loved a lot of people and tried his best to show it. He put everything he had into his music and his family, especially his kids. I always wanted to meet him, and its my hope that will happen in Heaven someday.

I see a torrent for this online. I may take a bullet for us and read it and see what it's like. I havent read an MJ book since the Magic and the Madness, which obviously tainted MJ books for life.

Michael Jackson was healthy before his death, according to The Associated Press, which obtained a copy of Jackson's autopsy report.

The Los Angeles County coroner's report listed Jackson at a healthy weight for a man of his height (136 pounds). Jackson also had a strong heart and his major organs were normal, according to the report.

Some minor health problems were found: Jackson had arthritis in the lower spine and a few fingers as well as mild plaque buildup in his leg arteries. The most alarming issue was Jackson's lungs, which were chronically inflamed and had reduced capacity, according to the report. The autopsy noted that his lung condition was not severe enough to have either caused or contributed to his death, however.

According to the coroner's office, Jackson's June 25 death was caused by "acute propofol intoxication," with two other sedatives listed as contributing factors. Last month, the coroner's office ruled Jackson' death a homicide.
Dr. Conrad Murray administered propofol and the two other sedatives to help Jackson sleep, according to court documents. Murray is the target of manslaughter investigation, according to Los Angeles police. No criminal charges have been filed.

Hopefully this new book will keep this in mind. Michael may have had financial issues at time of death, but like a man who believes in responsibility and accountability, Michael went back to work to pay down his debt load. Dr. Murray was held responsible for the death of Michael in a Court of Law!

This was recent news?

Well damn...so damn sad. He actually was healthy after all? I do remember the reports about fans how MJ seemed skinny as hell and that it really didn't look too good at all. Man...thinking about how this 'doctor' took Mike away from us with that goddamned Propofol, it's just so sad and downright depressing.

No way was Michael 136 lbs, not with costume jackets sliding off his shoulders, not with him having to wear double layered clothing like he did during that smooth criminal skit, not when he looked emaciated, not when he completed a total of 2 rehearsals of the 45-46 that took place

Michael being healthy is a relative term... I mean you have to think what it does to the body not reaching RMEM state for who knows how long.. I don't think there is a question that by Mid-late June he was too drained to go on.. If the toxicity of propofol wouldn't have killed him, it would have been the sleep propofol gave him..

REM state in sleep is the most important part of sleep.. Without it, its almost like not sleeping at all.. It would basically trick your body on feeling like it's rejuvenate when it's not... No REM sleep and rehearsing for hours - no wonder why he was only 136lbs..

Lack of REM:

* weight loss
* Not getting Neurological rejuvenation
* general pain is enhanced
* Brain cannot retain information as well & memory loss

Over time it could also make your nervous system break down, metabolic rate lowers (not digesting food well), cortisol levels raise (causing depression & heightened estrogen), lack of motor functions, body temperature dropping, immune system shuts down (get sick easy) .. I could keep going too, list goes on..

The fact that he rehearsed at the quality he did shows how GREAT he was, imagine if he was not dealing with this.. THOUGH about half of THIS IS IT footage we saw was not really from the dates they claimed.. Was filming taken from The Forum before Staple Center.. Which we KNOW why!!

Before You Judge Me does not directly address the child molestation allegations that shadowed Jackson for years. “I wasn’t there, and I will never know,” Smiley says.

What a moron! He wasn't there during those 16 weeks either but he sure thinks he knows what happened.

Never know? What about looking at the evidence and they he would know.
It's like we can never know if Aaron Fisher was molested because we were not there in the room.

Mhm. Funny how people act like MJ experts and then suddenly "they weren't there" when it comes to the allegations.

These statements have infuriated me. It's so hypocritical. I hope this "figment of his imagination" doesn't make it to the small screen. Their other projects haven't, so far.

These concerts should have never been scheduled
"Desperate times call for desperate measures." However, 'This is It' showed that he hadn't lost that talent, charisma, sense of humor or magic. With all he had gone through, he was still astonishing. He went out on top. I'm grateful they had that on film.

it definitely was desperate times

Nothing worse than vultures trying to cash in on something they have no real knowledge about. Even more so when the same ppl have been nothing but haters over the years.funny how they dont mind making money off the thing they have such distain for.such moral fibre.not!

I see reviews aren't great for this. I did see this and found it interesting:

Tavis was with Prince just after Michael passed away, and shared the “Purple Rain” singer’s reaction to Jackson’s death.

“I've never said it publicly… when the news came that Michael had died, Prince was in rehearsal at Paisley Park… Prince cancels rehearsals, sent the band home, and for days locked himself in his bedroom and wouldn’t come out and really didn’t talk to people.”

Tavis Smiley: I know everything about Michael, I know more then anyone else about him, Jesus Christ couldn't tell me something that I don't know about Michael Joseph Jackson!
Interviewer: What about the allegations?
Tavis Smiley: I wasn't there, so how would I know what did or didn't happen?

Edit: This is a joke not an actual interview. :yes:
