Exclusive: Michael Jackson TV Movie 'Searching for Neverland' from Emmy Winning Motown Veteran

The fellow who made the video saying Navi isn't the best Michael Jackson impersonator and was A L L wrong for the Lifetime movie, said it had to do with the details. I could not disagree with this analogy. One point that was made was how feminine Navi acted in the role of Michael Jackson. That there is a fine line with Michael wearing makeup, but he still kept his masculinity. The hand gestures were another problem with the fellow behind the video. He was right, from the way Michael blew a kiss, to when he intently listened to someone, to the way he would have his hands together, but the finger tips were just so. Those were just a few examples that were glaringly pointed out in the video. It was an interesting read, to say the least!

I made it through the first seven minutes of this more than an hour long review. One impersonator cutting down another.

Yep. The pot calls the kettle black. He is horrible too.

Esthetically, that guy looked awful but he was not saying he is better than Navi. His grip was that the media is pushing Navi as the best impersonator and closest "Michael Jackson look-alike" which are futher from the truth. E. Casanova was the closest look-alike , the guy in the video said he looks just like Michael, I disagree but Casanova made his homework getting Michael's appearence, (while looking like a human being rather than a lifeless wax doll) dance moves and mannerisms more perfected than Navi. I still don't get how he got the role, he didn't do Michael any justice on his character and physical appearance.

I watched it earlier today and i loved it :) the only thing that threw me off was navi's accent . Its ike navi dude mj was an american not british

Nah...I just cannot justify that. This scenario typifies that Michael was under the influence of drugs/narcotics. Which the autopsy report clearly shows Michael's organs were strong, not scar tissue, which a regular drug user would have. The autopsy don't lie!

Yes but remember this was probably way before june 2009 so maybe mike did take something that made him a little erratic and we cant deny michael didnt have dependecy on drugs from time to time. I mean he didnt go to rehab in 93 for nothing as much as we love mj we cant ignore it like it wasnt there cuz it was

Another thing the movie got wrong is that the bodyguard said Michael never saw Elizabeth again. I don't know if it's also mentioned in the book or it just was purposely changed in the movie but Michael was living in LA again in 2008 and went to visit her in October.

Did the bodyguards portrayed themselves as friends and saviors in the book? Karen Fake, Bush and Tompkins were working for him for dacades and MJ didn't see them as friends.

I think bill amd javon meant like after the day of liz's bday he never got the chance to see her again cuz remember thar fil is based around 2009 too

The book says it would've been ONE of the last times they would've seen each other:

I didn't get so much of a saviour feeling of the bodyguards when I read the book... at least I don't remember feeling that way. The movie exaggerated and changed some things from the book no doubt.

^They just can't accept the Jacksons still are preying on Michael like a kettle of vultures waiting what they can get or steal from him. The more I knew what they were or still are capable of doing, the more I think they love more his money than they loved Michael. Even his mother is corrupt and greedy.

There is something fans need to realize katherine is alot like michael she lets joesph ad jermaine co get in her ear and pressured her to convince mike to"reunite" with the brothers again and katherie would do it . Mike and katherine ( im not saying this in a mean way) are people pleasers who dont wanna get into conflict and im one a people pleaser too and go through it with my own family

This is exactly what Navi did to Earnest Valentino after his movie was released in March, then went on to make this disastrous movie. :doh: His comments were nasty, below the belt and arrogant. I'm sure these impersonators find this to be a good way to promote themselves but I find it rather pathetic. If you're so great let your actions speak louder than your words.

I was one to say before this movie was even made, the only person I can see pull this off is E'cas. and Yes he would have done a great job.. That said I can't take away from navi the good work he did. I can say he stepped up to the plate, put in the effort and did a good job. We can sit here like critics and say this or that is not the same as Michael.. Well, he's not Michael...

There are biopics release constantly and we can say fairly 'so and so did a great job' when in actuality they did not look very close to the real life person because we can appreciate the work put into it. But because we are an MJ fan base we dissect Navi's every move, every gesture and look for the holes. That's unfair.

Does Chadwick Boseman really look like James Brown? no, not really .. Joaqin phoenix look like johnny cash, nope.. And if we were super fans of either of them we would spot out beyond so many 'wrongs'. But we let things go cuz we don't hold onto the portrayals under a microscope the same way.

Navi yas spent more years studying Michael than most actors that we've praised for portrayals in movies, I can say without a doubt navi put his full effort, and did his homework.

Dr. Allan Metzger, a lupus specialist and rheumatologist, had been treating Michael Jackson since 1983. He was aware of what Michael took and what doctor's, usually at different hotel's, when out of town of Los Angeles. Debbie Rowe would let Dr. Metzger know if she had concerns.

I know that Michael can't sleep when he is creating , or after he was creating, he always wanted to make it better, Dr. Metzger recalled

This always bothers me when I see Michael being depicted within this context. Then the one telling the story proceeds to give the appearance of Michael being a small child depending upon said storyteller.

Dr. Allan Metzger and Michael gave a speech together at this public function.

- Vegas event. Taunya says she and Randy went to see Michael for a business matter. Bodyguards did not open the gate so they waited until someone came in and they drove right behind them and parked at the front door and asked to see Michael. Bodyguards did not allow it, according to Taunya they were "belligerent and aggressive". Randy later called Joe Jackson who came and was upset that the bodyguards was coming between brothers. Taunya says they wanted to leave but bodyguards was blocking their way. They let them out a few hours later. Taunya is asked about to explain the "business matter" they went to see Michael for, she replies "it was a financial matter". She makes it clear that visit was not an intervention attempt. AEG asks "is it about Michael Jackson owing Randy Jackson money?" Taunya refuses to answer.

Elizabeth Taylor's birthday party was in Las Vegas, on Feb. 28, 2007. Elizabeth said that Michael would not be attending, as she had talked to Michael earlier in the day.

Apparently, under oath, in her deposition with AEG, Taunya and Randy did not crash the gates. Joe Jackson didn't appreciate the bodyguards. Both Randy Jackson and Taunya Zilkie had been named in a lawsuit against Michael Jackson, where Michael owed Randy Jackson $1,650,000 and Randy's assistant Taunya Zilke $50,000.

Sorry but i dont beleve anything the family says anymore imo i mean seriously guys ya'll know what randy and jermaine are like!

The thing is i think he felt like he was still that young boy in the jackson 5 days who was hurting and was still hurting in his adults days. Im not saying he was a dumb immature idiot but the were things from his past i dont think he ever really dealt with and didnt know how to deal with it as he didnt like confrontation. Then 1993, 2003-2005 happened and that completey changed him in way that he was never gonna be the same again

To the few New Zealanders on here: This is airing on TV3 at 9pm tonight (1.5 hours from posting).

You can stream the channel live on their website/app if you want to watch it from your laptop/device too :)

That is basically what was being said in the Man in the Mirror documentary that aired on March this year. They talked about how Michael never really learned how to handle adulthood and even though he gave it a good shot considering his life and the people around him, I believe he felt safest and most himself around kids.

I think he felt safest around kids but mostly PPB and if what bill & javon say is the truth i think HE FELT SAFEST I MEAN REAL SAFE AROUND THEM. Problem is with baine and all those idiots around him they knew how to misled him and the saddest part is SO DID HIS FAMILY!

The problem with people around Michael including these bodyguards is that no matter who you talk to they will always spin the story so that they come out as the good guys. Funny how Michael had so many 'good guys around him yet he was incredibly lonely and couldn't trust anyone.
Fact is, we will never know for sure If these guys made him feel safe since Michael is not here to tell us how he really felt. However I will say this: if they cared so much about Michael, why publish a book and cash in by making some very private issues public? The louder people are in claiming they were close to Michael the more I think they are lying. True friends keep what happens between them private.

No actors look or act exactly like the REAL thing-back in the old days Bette Davis didn't look like Elizabeth I, Henry Fonda didn't look like Abe Lincoln, now Jessica Lange doesn't look like Joan Crawford, or Al Pacino look like Phil Spector. Or does Judy Davis actually look and act like Judy Garland or Madonna look and act like Eva Peron? No! But they got it right.

You just have to get the resemblance close enough, and mannerisms, voice enough, so the viewer can visualize the actual person, and then sit back and view life through that person's shoes. I think his gripe is all the people that say he is the spitting image of Michael Jackson, or he IS Michael Jackson. Well, no, he's not.
Wendy, for example, is a fool if she really thinks that, and I don't value her opinion anyway.

If I remember correctly, from reading here and on a Facebook fan page I'm on, Navi attacked Earnest Valentino because of the scenes in the movie, NOT his portrayal. Way too much sinister overtones and stuff. Did NOT see anything even remotely like this in this movie.

And on a side note, I always thought Earnest Valentino and E Casanova were the same person-guess it's because Rudolph Valentino did a silent movie on Casanova-or in my mind he did. Lol. I didn't realize there were 3 big impersonators-heck, maybe there's a lot more. You all know all the people that impersonate his voice-I'm clueless in that regard.

Yeah, you're never going to have someone who looks EXACTLY like Michael Jackson. For a decent amount of the film, I thought Navi actually nailed the look. There were times when he didn't as much, but I feel it was more his inconsistent acting and voice that distracted me.

Hey im glad they did wrote that book cuz it did give us some indication of what was going on and also it trash him the way other books have. N WOULD U WANTED THEM TO CALL HIM ***** ***** OR MJ THE CHILD MOLESTOR???!!!! seriousluy im sick of the trash ass books that wanna make out mj is a evil sinister monster CUZ THAT HE WAS NOT

The Thrilling Make-up of a Michael Jackson Biopic

Re-creating the face of the famous popstar comes with a certain amount of pressure. However, Nash Morgan and her team rose to the occasion and rolled with the punches.
The movie, released on May 29, sheds light on Jackson&#8217;s family dynamics as well as uncovers hidden drama that ensued during the last few years of his life. It is based on the best-selling book Remember the Time: Protecting Michael Jackson in His Final Days, told through the eyes of Jackson&#8217;s bodyguards, Bill Whitfield and Javon Beard.
&#8220;This show is about a well-documented slice in recent history,&#8221; says Nash Morgan. &#8220;A lot of the looks for these people can be Googled. So, I felt that we had to find hues close to identical (including skin tones, face shapes, eyebrow shapes and regional make-up styles) to capture the person we were imitating. I did not want anyone to try to guess at who was on the screen.&#8221;
Navi, the actor who played the late icon, is a longtime MJ impersonator. Nash Morgan says that Navi had a sense of the look, which proved helpful, although there was a lot of refinement necessary for HD filming.
Navi&#8217;s face, neck, chest and arms were painted daily. It took three hours a day to apply the look using airbrush, contour and stripping techniques. Nash Morgan and key make-up artist Sue Laprelle worked out the placement of the vitiligo (a disease that causes the loss of skin color in blotches) and tattoos based on photographs and worked solely with paint and powder. No prosthetics were used, as the production&#8217;s budget didn&#8217;t allow for it.
Time restrictions further challenged the make-up team, leaving them no time to test the make-ups. Nash Morgan says, &#8220;The [make-up artists] knew that and were cool enough to understand.&#8221; She went on to explain that she would set the looks on all the characters and &#8220;then pass the puff to the staff.&#8221;
Scenes were shot in enormous estates and homes throughout the Santa Clarita, Malibu and Los Angeles area. One shot was filmed in the Glendale Galleria, where April Chaney (3rd make-up artist on the film) recalls fans being confused, believing Navi was truly MJ.

Nash Morgan says the team did their best to capture key features of each character. She did a wash of color to shift skin color and used highlights and shadow to morph the actors into the characters they were portraying. &#8220;In some cases,&#8221; recalls Nash Morgan, &#8220;the changes were so different we had to spatter with ink washes to blend in the changes. Like with the Randy Jackson character, his skin tone was taupe/yellow and we had to shift him to golden orange. [The actor] kindly let us shave his head and we painted his fresh baldpate and added key details to bring &#8216;Randy&#8217; into focus.
<figure id="attachment_19437" class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="box-sizing: border-box; margin: 5px auto 20px; background-image: initial; background-position: initial; background-size: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial; max-width: 100%; position: static; width: 480px; outline: none !important;">

Joe Jackson was also a challenge. Thank goodness we had Richard Lawson, a seasoned thespian playing the role. We had to tweeze his eyebrows into a high arch and shave his bushy mustache into a thin pencil shape. Richard also helped us by getting his own green contacts. &#8230; I was very happy with the look. Katherine Jackson [played by Starletta DuPois] was also a challenge. I had to change her facial structure with paint and then drop on Ms. Jackson&#8217;s specific make-up look. This was the process we did with all of the doppelgangers in the show.&#8221;

I reckon they did a great with joesph like the actor looks like joesph but strrangely when he was younger though..........i mean wouldnt joesph have been in his 70's in 2009? the dude playing him looks like him when he was like 45!

regarding what happened with Randy going through the gates or not.. It's a matter of "he said/she said"... On 1 hand if the gates were broken.. Would we not have gotten 1 pic by a fan (which fans went by the house regularly) or a story of someone running onto the property etc. On the other hand, out of the two sides - who has more to gain from lying? Think of what would the Jackson family gain vs the bodyguards? The bodyguards do not gain much, where as the Jackson family would be able to protect there image and hide the fact..

BTW it's not the first time we heard about Randy rushing the gates at Michaels house.

Wait tina turner took a shot at randy????? when????

Can someone plz explain this " tina shooting randy " situation??? cuz i have feeling it not tina turner..??
