Greg Gorman's semi-nude photo of Michael?

I know European films tend to show the human anatomy, including the man's penis and think nothing of it. It is art! That's why I can see why Michael hired Greg Gorman to photograph him.

A lot of Michael's work did evolve, though. That's why when Michael did do the YANA short film, it was acceptable to him. He looked better physically. I can see why Michael liked shoulder pads now. He just looks too skinny in the pic. He had filled out a bit more by the time HIStory came around. Even his neck muscles reflect that. He just looked healthier.

European films contains bed-scenes, yes, I think it isn`t diffrenet then in USA-films today. But I would say it is a very rare thing that you will see a man`s penis in a European film. It isn`t usual.

True to some extent, but I do think nudity as well as sexuality are much more common in European cinema, and films that contain these elements are also are more likely to get attention/receive awards. E.g., I don't think a film like Blue Is The Warmest Color would ever win an Oscar, but it did win the Palme d'Or at Cannes.

I wouldn't say it's the usual, but idk if I'd describe it as very rare either.. At least, Dutch films -especially back in the day- had quite a lot of nudity in them. Showing it all wasn't unusual, lol! I guess it can be very different for every European country tho :)
 
those high res photos they took of his hands and face, but not the rest of his body? Geeezz.

I subscribe to Netflix and it seems like most of those foreign films didn't seem to have a problem with what I mentioned. They are really good films, it was surprising how much of the human anatomy is shown, especially with the male anatomy. I just thought the European film's have a different standard then American film's. Which is why I could see Michael doing what he has done, since he has spent a lot of time in Europe.

yeah i must be watching the wrong channels lol. Unless its some dodgy german porn channel from sky back in the day! Euro market is flooded with u.s films anyway so viewings are hardly much different in europe interms of mainstream stuff. Countries in europe are very diff from one another though. I saw some scandinavian magazines the other day just normal chat celeb gossip ones and it was full of naked ppl!!

Ironically the actual album cover ended up being pretty controversial as well. People said he looked doll-like, feminine and of course there were lots of speculations about his skin color. I am not sure if the lace cover fitted with the album though. It definitely did not fit with the title song. Maybe with Liberian Girl. :D

It's funny but I was 7 or 8 during the Bad era so completely oblivious to any controversy regarding his image, then one day I became an adult and found that the world was a cold judgmental place where adults where the biggest children of all. I think he looks incredible on the Bad sleeve, but in this cynical world.......
