Janelle Monae

Need to get this thread going again.

Her BET Awards performance was brilliant (sorry this is only the video I could find for it):

I loved the appreciation the crowd had for her and how they introduced her saying they saved the best for last- really wished she got that recognition in the Grammys.

Dance Apocalyptic was fun:

although I feel like it wasn't as aesthetically pleasing as her other music videos, but she seemed be having a ton of fun.

So far I haven't a Many Moons or Come Alive (my two favorite songs by her), but we'll see on September 10.

I just listened to her ArchAndroid album. Fantastic album! I'm really impressed by her. Who said R&B is dead? Too bad it's not the kind of music that gets mainstream attention these days. I also noticed the Michael influences in her music.

Consider me a fan. I'm definitely buying ArchAndroid and I'm gonna check out her other works as well.

Produced by YouTube Music, A Revolution of Love is a visual manifesto about Janelle Monáe’s quest for love, which has been a consistent thread throughout her development as an artist and human being. The film follows Janelle's journey from being a little firecracker of a girl singing in church, to her adolescent life and studies in Atlanta, to her latest album Dirty Computer. Directed by Emma Westenberg who directed Janelle's iconic "Pynk" video, this documentary is an honest portrait showcasing Janelle's very own Revolution of Love.
