Does anyone know the real story behind the song crack kills that was supposedly made for Bad with Run DMC but didnt make the final cut. I heard/read somewhere that they had creative diffrences and that they didnt get along or something along those lines.

Does anyone know the real story behind this collaboration?

Michael wanted to work with them. They didn't want to work with Michael. So the song is probably unfinished.

Do we know the exact dates of when Run DMC and MJ have met? It's reported they've met twice during the Bad sessions.

First meeting has to be before December 1986 as there was an article about their meeting printed in Rolling Stone magazine (early Dec '86)

Quincy Jones stated that Run-DMC showed up at Westlake Studios several times, but Michael Jackson was rather sceptical of including rap songs on the 'BAD' album.

Lyrically, 'Crack Kills' is said to have 2 verses.

Joe Vogel states in his book, lead vocals were recorded at Westlake in 11/86.

Although not directly connected, Run DMC's demo called "Crack" has been recorded on 11/30/86.

This is from the reissue of "Tougher than Leather":
When the reel was found for this demo it said "Crack (For Michael Jackson)" on the box, but according to Run the track was never intended for MJ.

I say slap em together anyway and see how it flows. I can't imagine anything else fitting.

I wonder if Mike took some of the ideas or at least the concept behind Crack Kills and turned it into Throwin' Your Life Away a few years later.

It would make sense since TYLA is all about the "Just Say No" movement that was so popular in the eighties.

I think MJ raps his verses the same way he did on Why You Wanna Trip or Tabloid Junkie

I can really envision Michael singing/rapping to Crack by Run D.M.C. You can't tell me they don't fit well.
