Shutting Down MJJC Radio (per Estate's request)

Re: Shutting Down MJJC Radio and Chat (per Estate's request)

Wasn't that just one region? Other users reported it was fine then and it still shows for me too.

Yeah, they still showed for me too.
I like to be optimistic, but overall I try not to get too excited about anything until it's officially announced.

Re: Shutting Down MJJC Radio and Chat (per Estate's request)

Instead of shutting down an online radio, the MJ Estate lawyers should READ and review the TRIAL AND TRIBULATION SECTION THREADS, especially the one about Wade Robson.
... and read the reactions to the mega anti-jackson campaign made up by RadarOFFline BS article.

Re: Shutting Down MJJC Radio and Chat (per Estate's request)

True, but I personally just can't see the estate the same way I saw Michael himself because it isn't Michael.

It doesn't matter how you "see it"; the music, videos, etc. are Mike's property that he created, cared for and protected. It's not rocket science; his work still belongs to HIM, dead or alive. Most artists (with the exception of Prince, who didn't leave a will or put in place executives to handle his estate) are fiercely protective of their product long after they're no longer alive. Like it or not, the two Johns are the keepers of Mike's work and image. They are not obligated to appease the fans; they're obligated to do what's best for Michael Jackson (the brand and the man.)

Maybe some of the fans should get a grip and remember that they do not own Mike. HE does, even from the grave. Respect that or stan for some other artist.

None of us fans think we "own" Michael (at least I don't).
Everyone including me can Stan for whoever they want.
Just because you stan for an artist that is no longer here doesn't mean you have to agree with whatever their estate does and says.

We as Michael's fans have the right to have an opinion and to voice it as we are the ones that supply the estate with money for them to even be able to continue Michael's legacy with new projects and what not.

And part of continuing Michael's legacy IS keeping his fans happy.
The estate alone cannot keep Michael popular and selling music, merchandise, etc it's his fans that buy his music and keep Michael popular, which is why even in death he continues to break records.

It would be stupid for the estate to NOT care about what us fans think.

I also wonder why MJ's estate came for MJJC radio and chat when as I type this there are a ton of videos on YouTube (and other video, and music based websites) that use Michael's music, and image without the estate's go ahead.

My feelings about the the estate are neither positive or negative, and of course you can't please everyone, but this just seems a lil bit petty and random to me.

I don't understand why everyone here is tripping...it's not like we ALL don't own his music like seriously? Calm down! His entire catalog is my playlist

Tbh I kinda feel the same way (I stream MJ most if the time), but I would like to know why they were so adamant about the removal of the radio on here when his music is still everywhere on places like YouTube.

I've seen people remix his songs then link to a free download of the remix.
There are also a lot of copies of some of the songs/videos that can be found on MJ's actual Vevo, which in turn takes views away from MJ's actual Vevo channel.

If the estate is cracking down on MJJC radio why not crack down on those people/ YouTube accounts too.

What's the difference?
If their worried about piracy, and copyrighting (which is a legit worry and would make sense) they should go after those people too, right?

Sorry Sheila, youve lost me here. These two John's have put 3 fake songs on an MJ album so the above is thrown out the window. Anyone here is completely entitled to share their grievances about the estate.

And also, the issue is how the estate feel it necessary to come after small flies like a fan forum radio but let a horrific fakse story gather moss while it rollled around the world. Telling people to get a grip is a bit much. If you dont feel that strongly about it and think that the John's are doing a good job, thats obviously your opinion. But I am of the opinion that regardless of the fact that they are obligated to do whats best for Michael Jackson, this is not something they are in any way capable of.

Wonderouz, enjoy your playlist. We are discussing an idiotic decision, not who has what music.

So The Estate basically are the "two Johns", right? And The Estate does not have a department / specialist for Public Relations?

From all I know about The Estate`s actions they focus on MJs legacy in terms of legal matters and are also promoting Michael´s legacy.

IMO they HAVE to have someone who focuses solely on PR and a special team that focuses on how to maintain and promote Michael´s artistic legacy. If they do, these people are not doing too well, I think.

Re: Shutting Down MJJC Radio and Chat (per Estate's request)

I have just sent them the below in hope some form of resolution for the fans can be achieved.

Hey gaz could you also ask them to once and for all fix this s**it with rador online??? SERIOUSLY ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!

Re: Shutting Down MJJC Radio and Chat (per Estate's request)

I have a feeling something's in the air. A few weeks ago, someone on here complained the Dangerous album songs disappeared from Spotify. I'd love to think something's gonna happen this year, but I'm always such an idealist.

Lol nope the dangerous thing not gonna happen

First they need to do something bout rador online

I'm the same, losing the facility will not affect me one bit.

But I can't help but feel the Estate are playing a dangerous game.

I'm sorry but the people in control of his estate are not him. Just because Michael put them in charge doesn't mean I have to love everything they do. They've repeatedly demonstrated they don't care enough to defend MJ or do what's right by him. Also I hope nobody here is "staning" that's not a good thing.

And I don't think a lot of people are irate about the shutting down of MJJC radio and chat in particular, but instead are angry about the pettiness of it in addition to other things.

aw man. I guess I'll just have to listen to his catalog of music on my CD player or computer or iphone or spotify or pandora or youtube or...

It does seem petty. Unless there are a ton of forums doing it-but even then, fan forums seem different. And I've seen them make announcements to us directly, court our opinions in the past, so it seems they value MJJC.

Haha. And for some of us add the cassette player and turntable. Few choices out there. Lol.

And they're requesting this why ?? *confused*

I liked chatting with the fam while listening to MJ. I don't get it.

I ditto AtlasAir.

*re-reads the thread for answers*

Re: Shutting Down MJJC Radio and Chat (per Estate's request)

But they've always been supportive before. Having members go to Xscape listening parties, attending Bad25 events, asking us questions about sales and what we'd like to see.
Maybe other forums were not so respectful and they had to do it for all?

Those actions are not them "being supportive," those actions are promoting products, researching buyer personas and maximizing sales.

They are not asking to shut down chat? From first post:
" It is their wish that MJJCommunity discontinue our broadcasting of Michael's music on MJJC Radio and Chat."

They are asking not play Michael's music on MJJ radio or chat.

This is said too though.

"This decision has saddened us greatly, and it was not our wish to have to discontinue the MJJC Radio and Chat services."

That makes it sound like both the chat and radio service will no longer be available.
But hey, who knows. *shrugs*

Either way though, it's like I said before.
I don't think many people are honestly mad about this in particular, but are actually angry at some of the other things the estate has done in addition to this.

I've already said, Chat www.mjjcommunity.com/chat will now continue (it was a mix up) - even though you can broadcast MJ's music from it we will ensure members don't.

So why not stop by this feature MJJC offers so we can ensure its a success - #seeyouthere

Guys - is there not anything that can be worked out even if there was a
track listing T&C’s etc - the fans are gutted, more-so after what they/we
have been through the last couple of weeks - want to ask as I serve them
and this is what I have been asking of me to try since we disseminated the
change.

Any update on this, Gaz? Any chance of a compromise? Thank you.

They just pointed me to Youtube (which is crap) or deezer/spotify (which we can't afford) - so no, not going to happen. MJ fan's innocently listening to his music will be no more.

I have for now added a player from tunein that plays MJ music - not sure if its licensed who it belongs to or how long it will be online but I will just keep scouring for something so I'm at least serving Michael's fans, without wanting to take $$$ from their pockets.

The estate told u to use YouTube or spotify for this site?...Omg

The estate told u to use YouTube or spotify for this site?...Omg

At least youtube views count to Michael's chart performance, so its a good thing for Michael:yes:

The Estate simply wants to profit off of people listening to his music.. where I can't really blame them on that part but it would be nice if they had a better solution than just sending us elsewhere for it.

I did mention before it would be great to connect up to MJ's youtube page for us to hear while it helps MJs hits. It could connect to MJ's and the Jacksons and play on random! It could literally be a small screen in the corner of a page showing the videos

Re: Shutting Down MJJC Radio and Chat (per Estate's request)

I say the following, not as a mod but as a fan...

Personally I'm neither pro or anti Estate. It's a needed entity that ensures that what needs to get done, as far as Michael's business affairs go, gets done. They also act as a gatekeeper to ensure that Michael's work, image, name, etc. aren't used in damaging ways, and that when those things are used in approved ways, that Michael receives proper credit.

I don't always like the Estate's methods, but I try to keep in mind that their intentions are (hopefully) good. Not necessarily good for us, but for Michael's kids and pertinent family members.

The Estate owns the rights to Michael's music and that's all there is to it. They have the final say on how that music is used and accessed by others.

It's a bummer. Do I wish they'd do more and give us access to more? ABSOLUTELY. But that's not my call. It sucks, but it is what it is.....

completely agree, wish they would be more allowing tho.

At least they are working.

It is not good for fans but I guess it is right for Michael. IDK.

Gaz, your site is a wonderful place that I’m sure helps fans a lot in difficult times. For myself I can definitely say that after 2 years of war in my country I still feel myself as an MJ fan because of this site. Thank you very much for it! I understand that it is hard work and absolute dedication…
Please don’t get me wrong. Maybe I’m over the top with it and it's simply silly of me to say something like this.
But please someone needs to be more careful with posts that appear on MJJC Twitter and Facebook pages (as for the Estate). Really, whoever run those services, please, they need to be more keep in. I understand that we all can be angry sometimes but something as important as MJJC should not be at risk of anything.
Thank you.

yea i totally agree

Just question, would a free version of Spotify not work? and/or what if MJ's youtube channel is on the chat, a little box in the corner playing his videos on loop.. And If we don't want videos, we should still be able to stream the youtube and hide the visual... IDK just trying to brainstorm
