When Do You Expect An Album?

Re: When Do You Expect A Album?

Don't forget MJ Estate + Sony paid fan clubs and people like Joe Vogel to write positively about those songs..

It was rather the fact they would cease cooperation with people who accuse them of unproven crimes. Which company would not?
Noone was paid, this is utter nonsense.

I'm not sure if this is what you are saying, but if they ceased to cooperate with fan sites that correctly informed them these tracks were fraudulent then they were very foolish.

Re: When Do You Expect A Album?

Sadly I dont think we will get any new MJ songs anytime soon.
What I dont get is that Sony paid a LOTS of money after Michaels death in 2009 so they could release new albums in the next decade or so yet we only got 2 ...
Dont they want to try to get some money back for the exclusive rights invest they did?

As already explained, they did and do earn a lot of money with the released material. It is a common misconception that they would have only extended the rights to issue new releases. The established classics were their main investment and that does pay back. Be assured, they got their money back.

Re: When Do You Expect A Album?

But seriously do you think they'll celebrate This Is It 10th anniversary and HIStory 25 given that they didn't celebrate Dangerous 25 especially when that is a more successful album?

Dangerous was a far more successful album than HIStory and has a much stronger shelf life. If there was no Dangerous 25, I'd wager that HIStory 25 is an absolute impossibility.

People pay a lot of attention to stats and Michael having had top 10’s from the 70’s-10’s, for there to be the possibility of extending that to the 20’s, I think the estate would wait until 2020

I expect a Greatest Hits of the Greatest Hits, with an odd track added (remix)
It's the SAFE option,as they seem to want to push the music towards the current generation of music listeners.

A business role will always be to grow... We can't blame the Estate for wanting to make as much money as they could.

They no longer need to make any more money than they currently do. Even so it does not mean sub par products are to be excused.

^ the moment a business stops making money is the moment that business starts collapsing.. There'd be no projects 'sub par' or not.. The Estate gets way too bad of a rep with mega fans.. Some of us (not you or anyone specifically) act like the estates role is to solely make us happy. Never forget, though we are an important factor within MJ's legacy, we a large minority when it comes to where Michael Jackson and his estate gets money..

Michael Jackson has millions of fans around the world, and WE only are a handful in the big scheme of things. The Estate boomed after he passed because of the general interest in his work among the masses. It was not us! We were around buying his products all along.

^ there bank statements would show otherwise, the estate has grown since 2009 substantially..

I believe there are other hardcore fans like me who have acted similarly. So, as you can see, not even megafans are buying!!!

Not only are they not attracting new "customers", they are losing us as well!!!

Do you have statistical proof of this, or is it just your opinion? It appears that someone is buying...

Xscape hit #1 in 50 countries worldwide.

Michael Jackson One is the highest grossing show in Las Vegas and has been, for four years.

"Michael Jackson: The Experience" dance game was a smash hit for the Estate and for Ubisoft.

That Sony contract was for ten PROJECTS, which doesn't necessarily mean ten albums. The two Cirque du Soleil shows (one with a soundtrack album), "This Is It" movie with a soundtrack/companion album, "MJ The Experience" dance game for XBox and Wii, the VISION boxed set are all counted as projects. Then there's "Michael", "Xscape", "BAD25", "Off the Wall" documentary and more recently, the Halloween TV special and "Scream". Add to that, a hugely lucrative partnership with Bally for the Michael Jackson slot machine, which can be found in casinos worldwide - these machines are very, very popular with the public, believe me.

It is tiresome to hear fans constantly maintaining that the Estate is merely a business.

Preservation and investment are a vital component of their function as well.

Probably never at this rate

We need another album just to give fans something new to get excited about, feels like its been ages

I myself have skipped This is it soundtrack, Michael album (of course!!!), Vision DVDs, Cirque du soleil album, Off ...

You should defo buy the immortal and visions, great stuff!!

we didn't demand new music when Michael was hear to actually record music but for some reason we expect the estate to push out music (music which by the way Michael may have never wanted us to hear) fast..

If we are REALLY thinking of Michaels legacy, and trying to make the statement that the Estate does not care about his legacy.. What the hell would pushing out half finished music do for Michael? It would more or less just be to shut us fans up for a year.. If we really put his legacy as the main priority we would want only quality music be released if anything.. music that we truly believe Michael would have been ok on releasing.. Also, we would not demand music so fast - we get it all within (hypothetically) in the next 10 years, what the hell is the estate going to do in 25 years from now? Can we think of Michaels legacy even past our existence? Are we really thinking about him? or ourselves?

So when we talk crap about the estate, lets look at our true reasonings behind demands

I don't think they really care about preservation. Especially when it's stuff they don't already own. Too much effort to go looking for stuff I guess.

I think the Holliday’s this year would be good. Thriller 3D for Halloween then follow it up with a new album. Why not you only have so many opportunities.

I thought that “Ghosts” was also a part of that project.

Noone knows really. There was some talk about giving Ghost the same update both visual and audio - and 3D. But no official comment has been made, so for now it's mostly dreaming and hoping I guess.

I am not sure why you expect new music when Branca clearly stated it will not happen soon.

Vision was a pathetic release. Terrible quality rips of the videos with some shoddy intro to each one. The cover might have been cool but other than that it was a major fail. MJs videos should be released in the highest quality.

Seeing as how new music is no longer the focus, I see no reason why the Estate couldn't/shouldn't remaster all of Michael's short films and put them out on Blu-Ray. It's the easiest possible release.

There's another thread about how this will be a massive, expensive undertaking.

Nevertheless, it's top of my wishlist.

Not at all the easiest possible release. If you want VHS rips stuck on a blu ray then yean I guess it is lol.

Defo, but they weren't, at least with this you can watch all the long versions and in order, never understood why they included the BOTDF remix instead of the original tho

Or put out concerts on DVD, blu ray, and streaming services

The cover was great,I admit..
Didn't realise until I bought it,that every film has a black border on the left and right of the screen, because of Canada apparently, yet it was ok for everyone overseas to watch it like this.

Second that!!
