I don't think the TV version is that bad. Billie Jean performance is great:

I know they made it look better by editing it from two concert.

Yeah, it's definitely not amongst his best performances. The first night in particular was hard to watch at times. I mean, he messed up the sequence leading up to the Moonwalk - not good! Much better on the second performance.

They used too much stuff from the first night in the TV edit and not enough from the second.

Anyway the celebrities IMO were rubbish apart from Shaggy.

It was too bad he had to sing MITM with 98 degrees and Usher, but Luther rocked it imo. Great soulful vocals. I thought James Ingram and Gloria Estefan also did a decent job. And when I re-watched it recently I kinda appreciated Liza Minelli's version of YANA too. Other than that, I thought it was pretty bad, the awfully lame rap on Heal the World being the absolute worst.

But yeah, I'd rather have had more MJ & The Jacksons than the celebrity tributes. Not a big fan of those kinds of shows.
