IN LOVING MEMORY... "The Way You Make Me Feel"

When I was five, I had never known what it was to love music until I heard Michael Jackson. I'll never forget watching "Moonwalker" continually, or being no less frightened of the "Thriller" video after watching the "Making Of," or trying to decipher the lyrics of "Billie Jean" (Chorus: "She says I am the one; the coolest rock by the sun"). I'll never forget my parents waking me up to watch his Super Bowl Halftime Show, or playing "Moonwalker" on Sega Genesis and trying to catch the lightning bolt to turn Michael Jackson into a robot.

As time went on, and my musical tastes developed, I never forgot Michael Jackson. Michael's music had an artistic ingenuity and mass appeal that was then, and always will be, the ideal by which all art should be judged. He inspired me to create. Last month, my band The Rocks started practicing the Michael Jackson song "The Way You Make Me Feel." After we learned of the tragedy, we decided to record and post it on YouTube as a tribute to our idol. My only wish is that Michael would have been around to hear it.

I recorded a video of my version of "The Way You Make Me Feel" on Monday after picking up my tickets to the memorial. I was so inspired, I had to record something! It was always my dream to sing with MJ.

Michael has inspired me to write a song, I made up part of a melody and accompaniment on my keyboard, but still deciding what lyrics to put with it.
