HISTORICAL DATES
1976 - Motown releases The Jackson 5 Anthology.
1984 - Chuck Sullivan announces the first three venues for the Victory tour in Kansas City, Irving and Jackson-ville, with the opening concerts scheduled for July 6–8 at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri.
1991 - Off The Wall magazine, holds the UK’s first ever Michael Jackson Day. The party held at London’s Hammersmith Palais attracts over 1500 fans who dance to Michael’s music and videos, raise money for charity and are given the chance to actually meet Michael Jackson in person!
1995 - Sony continued its $30 million dollar promotional campaign for HIStory, by floating a huge statue of Michael Jackson down the River Thames in the UK. There were a total of nine statues throughout Europe. Each statue was 10 meters tall, 2,100 kilograms in weight and made from steel and fibreglass. The promotion for HIStory was the largest campaign for a single album at that time.
1995 Michael and Lisa appear in the video for ‘You Are Not Alone.’
1995 - There is controversy over Michael’s ‘They Don’t Care About Us’ lyrics, as the media report that, ‘Michael Jackson, stung by accusations of anti-Semitism, has apologized over one of his songs and promised to include a written apology on future copies of his new album. CNN report that Michael will re-record some of the controversial lyrics, replacing “k i k e me” and “jew me” with “ the lyrics: "Do me, Sue me, Kick me, strike me"
1995 - Both Life and Hello! magazines carry the same photos by Harry Benson of Michael and Lisa together.
1997 - Michael performs his HIStory Tour Concert at the Parkstadion in Gelsenkirchen, Germany
2002 - Michael Jackson attends a fan demonstration at the Sony Music offices in London . He arrives riding on the top deck of a London open topped bus which has been organised for him by a group of fans. Fan demonstrations around the world have been held outside Sony’s offices in New York, Switzerland, Holland and Spain with another planned for the USA. Later, at the Equinox nightclub at a fan club event, Michael speaks of his displeasure with Sony. Michael is upset that his latest album, ‘Invincible’, hasn't been promoted as thoroughly as his previous releases.
2003 - Michael invites the German a family (Wolf) to Neverland.
2009 - In acknowledgement of his upcoming ’This Is It’ concerts, Madame Tussauds Wax Museum in London announce a brand new figure of Michael Jackson is to be unveiled. This will be the tenth time the world renowned museum will have portrayed Jackson, making him the most featured star ever, with only the Queen having been portrayed more.
