The Discussion of MJ's Unreleased Tracks

Yeah, the desire to have MJ's art changed and finished by others continues to confuse me.
We want MJ alive. (I think most of us do.) The next best thing is to pretend, or to forget and connect him to the present, and the best way to do that is to celebrate with new music just like in the old days.

I would rather hear the songs the way it is and not have some rapper remix it and potentially make it worse, hopefully it's out on a collection album and not as a single or part of another rapper's album without us having the opportunity to hear the original version.

And also one of the songs is a rock song, how would a rapper fit in lol
The proven formula is a new version, and the original version..that's what I expect and want. In that way, there's no reason to argue, every side gets what they want.

Have you never heard of Run DMC? That was their whole thing, rapping over rock music.
The song is described as being similar to Queen's We Will Rock You, can you imagine a rapper singing over the verses of that song? And it make it sound good still? That's my point here.

Well it depends. Inspiration can come from anywhere. Especially a good hook. Ice Cube sampled We Will Rock You, there's a potential example.

"why should we celebrate the anniversary of other MJ albums, we already know MJ anniversary reissues don't work well on the market :p"

That's what they would say about Bad 25, remember lol. They tried very hard and it's an overall blip on Bad. The actual record, is what we care about most of all still. Depending on who you ask, even it usually is a blip on, OTW, Thriller, Dangerous, Invincible, take your pick. Which is a shame.

MJ and Steve Porcaro collaborated on a song titled “Dream Away,” which was written and recorded shortly after Thriller came out (i.e., December 1982 or January 1983). It’s a mid-tempo ballad with a similar aesthetic to “Human Nature,” and it’s at least 90% to 95% vocally finished.

Another one to fawn over.

Is this from today's seminar? If that's true then this just proves that the vault goes deeper than we thought and isn't as empty. Hopefully we get to hear that song one day.

I definitely think there will be a few of these songs that we haven't heard about that will pop up every now and again. Always nice to hear stuff like this.

"Dream Away"😮

Yup, it’s from the seminar! A couple attendees have been posting about it on Facebook and Instagram. Reactions are hugely positive thus far.
Interesting! Did they say anything else about the seminars? Like if there's been any other details they were given or if they heard any songs?

And also I've been thinking about it and it's probably unlikely that the song will be released, seeing how much of a fuss it has been to release Chicago 1945 lol.

Whoa! Wait a minute here. We were always told 3. Human Nature, Chicago 1945, and For All Time. All the sudden there's another?!?!?

I'd assume Porcaro will feel the same way about remixing this one as he does Chicago yeah.

Next album needs to have Chicago 1945, Dream Away, and Buffalo Bill. Please Estate. You can even throw Can't Get Out Of The Rain again on the next one.
Bad 40 or Thriller 50 material maybe? Imo it leans more into Thriller territory seeing how close it was made to the album's release but either way I hope Dream Away gets to be released one day.

So strange that he just decided to bring it out now and not at anything he's attended before lol.

Next project has to be a reissue of BAD!!! Doesn't need to be an anniversary issue, they should release a straight sde. Release 6 new bonus tracks (BB, C45, Streetwalker (Quincy), CK, AC (w Troutman), TYLA) along with short films & BTW (NYC?) in 4K.

MJ put For All Time on Thriller 25 because it was similar to Human Nature, right? At least that's what I assume. Then, if there was a song in the vault that's also similar to Human Nature AND is actually from the Thriller era then why didn't he release that one instead? lmao

No clue! I’m doing some hunting as we speak.

I recall Steve did an interview at some point and said there were “some” unheard songs in the vault, which I always took to mean that there were multiple. So happy to hear at least one more exists!
So Steve Porcaro has made at least 5 songs with Michael:
Human Nature
For All Time
Chicago 1945
Dream Away
Change The World

Y'all think there might be more from his sessions?
“Change the World”? What’s that?

Woah he kept that quiet until now. Let’s hope we get to hear that one too.

“Dream Away” seems to be a working title, as one of the seminar attendees said that they don’t recall the phrase ever appearing in the song.

Honestly, Dream Away sounds very interesting and if it is similar to Human Nature (a song I love), I want to hear it right now. This news has totally made my day.
