"Michael", a biopic about Michael Jackson, is officially happening.

I was just thinking... we don't know who's playing Janet, but there's another nagging question... is no one playing Prince? The singer.
How do you see Prince being inserted into the story? As one of Michael's peers / competitors in the 80's? Bc then they'd need Madonna in there as well, imo. Gotta say, I can't see any reason for either of them to be included. Not bc they weren't important in the overall story but just bc I can't see how there's enough time to explore anything involving either one. You could have a scene where a fleeting reference is made to one (or both) of them but having someone actually cast in that role ... that's the bit I'm not so sure about. 🤔

Or did you have another, specific scenario in mind? The JB thing? Prince's reaction to Michael's death?

I'm more interested to know who's going to play LMP but that's bc I can't think of anyone who's classy enough to play her.

I think it would be really interesting and iconic to have scenes like the JB stuff and the one time Prince tried to run over MJ with his purple car. And we know both were competitive as heck but they seemed to have a low key budding friendship at the same time. Since both were the two first global black super stars, who were really investing in videos, and the fact that Prince was perceived so different compared to Michael in terms of artistry and public image, I think their rivalry would be a cool storyline for when they talk about MJ's rise and fall from Thriller to History eras. Way more so than Madonna.

But at least showing the purple car scene would be iconic lol.

Both could and should be included in my opinion. Including Michael's peers, the one's that everybody around the world knows, might only add to the star value, meaning that people would be reminded that Michael hung out with the biggest of thew biggest. And as I mentioned previously, making some short cameos as Hitchcock did in his own movies takes very little time but ads to the legend. I think they should not leave them out.

It's the 80's, there has to be a Prince or Madonna reference, I have no doubt that there will be.

The film needs some comedy too, it can't be all serious. I'd love a little funny scene where Prince is being asked to appear on Bad but backs down after reading those opening lyrics....your butt is mine 😂, hell naw

Exactly!! I wouldn't want Michael's life to be shown in a bubble without major references from his era. I would even have Madonna sing Billie Jean to show how influential he was!

That and Reagan and Bush and Clinton should be in it as well. Briefly, but they would be in it.

So what dou you guys and gals think of the timing of the movie?

So I personally feel it's still a bit too soon and think the general public is a bit 'MJ tired' at the moment and are not open for a pro-MJ view yet (in terms of the allegations especially). And so that the best way to counter his image is to wait for another more years for pro-movies and documentaries and to finally dismantle Robson and Safechuck's story. What do you think?

There's nothing to back this up. The musical is now running until 2029 and is rapidly growing as one of the best performing musicals in history.

MJs streaming numbers continue to thoroughly outperform his peers.

This is the time, and it will do wonders for MJ - it's the biggest project they could possibly do.

I see ya John B🙄

I find it remarkable how confident everyone in charge is in pursuing this project, even though there's a trial coming up next year, the "threats for NL2 in the pipeline," and still a press that loves to question every Michael Jackson project because of the accusations.
They really show they have no doubt about Michael and go full on the offensive.

How MJ tired? He has been out of the public eye since 2019 and that was a disaster year. Sure we hear him on the radio but other than that it has been very calm.

I think it can’t come soon enough

The longer you wait to dismantle a lie, the more it spreads. What good would waiting do? Waiting is not going to change anyone's mind.

Yes I agree, and as regards LN 2 I have a family member who was swayed by LN first time around , after learning there is likely to be a another one he's like really why? Think that might be a question on many minds, time will tell I just feel the tide maybe turning

I stayed in The Biltmore in Downtown and I believe if memory serves me the Thriller movie theatre is on W 6TH ST where they are filming.

Okay, so the Palace Theatre is on 630 S Broadway which is just off 6th ST. I’m not saying they’re doing a Thriller scene (I don’t know) but they’re literally in the vicinity.
