"Michael", a biopic about Michael Jackson, is officially happening.

There is no way it has been deleted. Peter Safran who became co-ceo of DC Studios after it has said that he has seen it.
For all intents and purposes, it has been. I'm pretty certain it will be leaked or shown down the line (like the Schumacher cut is out there), but as far as we are concerned it's "gone" and didn't get a theatrical release as it should have.

Elvis biopic movie also had soundtrack album but it would be pointless to release another Mj best of album without new songs

Will Emmanuel Lewis be in the biopic, or is the estate too afraid to do so?

I don't think so as his role was not all that important and visible in Michael's life. Macualy would make more sense.
Showing how Emmanuel Lewis's family took him in and cared for him after he was burned and went to a hotel because he didn't want to go home would actually explain a lot regarding why Michael was always seeking surrogate families.

The friendship with Emmanuel Lewis would show much more about who Michael really was than the appearance of Mick Jagger, who also has no great artistic significance for the biopic.
I can see Jagger in a montage with other celebs to show how famous and beloved Michael became with 'Thriller'

Jagger's role cannot be of any real importance; it probably only serves to increase the value of the "Thriller" and "Michael Jackson" brands among viewers who do not consider MJ a serious musician.

Yes although a celeb cameo could also work storywise: how filmmakers condense 'training' time and show progress with quick cuts, inspirational music, and a focus on showing improvement to get from "beginner to pro" quickly and dramatically

Anyone know the viewing figures for the Odyssey trailer? Noticed that on YouTube it got released only a day ago and already has 17m views - pretty impressive considering MJ only has 14m and that came out last month.

Will be interesting to see how much on other platforms as I know the MJ tease did really well overall

The trailer for Christopher Nolan's “The Odyssey” was viewed more than 121.4 million times across various social media platforms in its first 24 hours.

The teaser for "Michael" soared to 116.2 million views worldwide in its first 24 hours.

Big différence between teaser and trailer

Omg, people are trying to claim victory over trailer views now? How pathetic.

GUYS, NOT EVERYTHING IS A ****** COMPETITION.

The Odyssey is clearly going to be the biggest release of 2026, we already knew that. it's Nolan. that doesn't mean that Michael isn't also going to do well but I'd refrain from assuming it will match Nolan, Spiderman or the new Avengers. let's be realistic.

Michael Jackson is a very famous big star and his biopic is making a lot of talk about him at the moment, if the film is well promoted and the Estate does its job well, he could compete with Nolan.

Michael biopic $2B worldwide.

Marvel/Nolan movies are always the best selling movies of the year they are released, to the point of competing with colossals like Avatar or Titanic. Michael has against itself the fact that it's tied to incompetent entities such as Lionsgate and MJ estate, it's not about the lack of potential

Marvel movies have been a flop recently, for some time people have been getting tired of the MCU. And CN and MJ are the same, Michael has always had sales and enjoys extraordinary attention compared to other stars of his time and even today.

in a year let's meet again here to see who was right then. The Odyssey is predicted to be the highest grossing movie of the year, the Spiderman suit tease from last summer was the most watched tease of all the times. I'd be pleasantly surprised if Michael ends up outgrossing them but it's highly unlikely and frankly, the way they are managing the production of the movie factors in it.

which doesn't mean is going to be a flop. I'm positive it's still going to be in the top 5/6 grossing movies of 2026, just not in the first three.
