"Michael", a biopic about Michael Jackson, is officially happening.

The point I’m trying to make is that Michael’s life can be a 3 hour film without it being boring or lagging or tailing off. He had a life that was compelling enough to hold a persons attention span for 3 hours.

I’m not suggesting that every minute detail of his life be included, just that it was full of significant events to demonstrate how big his life story actually is.
3 Hours is the sweet spot for me really. It's just going over that that sounds excessive to me, personally.

Really, as sequel constant as people are with films these days, idk. Why the dialogue shifted away from that. Everyone seems to think this is the last ditch effort forever and then MJ dies for real or something. Like he hasn't already.

A trilogy of films is always better to me than just one movie, or one movie and a sequel.

So back to the burning issue. There was not a single camera snuck in for the trailer preview? How long will us regular folk have to wait to see it with our own eyes?

to me these are the turning points in his life and the parts that deserve the most attention
basically its before and after 93
or in Michaels words:
Swift and sudden fall from grace

the overall theme could be loneliness:
I would say the Pepsi accident is a pivotal moment in Michael’s life and if shown on the big screen would have a huge impact on the audience. I remember growing up and hearing all the jokes about MJ’s hair catching fire and people carelessly laughing. They need to be faced with a few realities like that. It has to have weight to it at certain points.

Outside of the music some pretty significant things happened. If some of those are not addressed then the audience doesn’t learn anything new. They need to grasp his humanity.

Anyway, I think I’ve probably made my point by now.

As you say, it doesn’t need to be anything, but I sure hope it will be something. To say the least.
I agree. Was not trying to say otherwise.

It's just something I've said before, There's This Is It, we got an OTW, Thriller, WATW, and Bad documentary. Those can compliment this film technically. We can get other documentaries eventually too, on all sorts of subjects. Other biopics might happen too; plenty of other artists get more than one.

No, you couldn’t possibly include everything in the list I rattled off. That would be ridiculous. But the more significant things, a lot of them have to be shown in my honest opinion.

Sure, this doesn’t have to be a last ditch effort but it’s not necessarily a bad thing to come at it from that angle. If the audience come away from it with more of an understanding of who he was and that their thinking of him as being too weird was actually more about them knowing so little about him, then a lot of casuals and new people will be won over and more empathetic. If it can create a sea change in attitudes then that’s pretty massive.

Sure, you can catch glimpses of his humanity in his performances such as Man In The Mirror but it’s about time people were shown beyond the mirror and into why we all love and support him through decades of accusations and media scandals and innuendo regardless.

Perhaps this is finally the estates reply to the endless unpleasant noise.

I believe it’s December? I may be wrong.

true.
people need to learn that behind all the perfection there was a lot of pain: childhood, loneliness, tabloids, allegations, pepsi accident, vitiligo, lupus
despite everything, he was so good

Well, Lawrence of Arabia was closer to 4 hours. Surly in this day and age the life of Michael Jackson is more culturally relevant and impactful than that of a British solder during WWI set in the Middle East?

The first aim should be to create a masterful retelling of Michael’s life as accurate as humanly possible that finally allows the audience to understand why he was so different and eccentric and talented. Do that and success will follow.

So the first aim needs to be making a perfect film, not so much worrying about whether 5 or 6 year olds will get bored or if people need to pee. This will only be a success if it’s told and presented in the way that it deserves to be. It’s simply too important to get wrong. And it’s bigger than minor gripes such as the above mentioned.

Surely Michael’s life is more interesting and eventful than that of T.E. Laurence? His 50 year life was literally packed with big significant moments.

I completely understand where the director is coming from in making Michael an epic film. His life was simply too big and complicated to squeeze into anything less.

I’m sure I forgot a few, but even then, if a lot of the more minor details are left out, you still have a hell of a task to fit all of the major moments plus over 30 songs into anything less that 3 hours. Obviously a lot of the songs will be overlaid to footage. This isn’t Elvis or Freddie Mercury. Respect to both, but Michael’s life was lived through a much greater lens and lived on a much bigger scale. Am I wrong?
Maybe they should leave something for the possible sequel. Not everything needs to be in one movie. Long epic movie would be interesting but can Jaafar carry a 3 hour movie? I don't think he has much acting experience so it could he risky.

This part here ? ...groundhog day.

be interesting to see how they execute this.
Legacy and impact on the world
We are here for it.
Your post has an engaging approach to me. TY| for it

He has zero acting experience other than receiving lessons and attending workshops for this role.

It wouldn't surprise me if this is his only big acting role throughout his career. Not because I think he will be poor but this particular role could be ideal for him and his ability to be like Michael is effortless.

Wonder if Teddy Riley would get a mention ? 🙂 I have a tiny feeling NJS -/Bobby Brown might too.[because of the impact on music at that time] i am stoked john has got ..haha ..MY larenz Tate in this ha!...Someone cast Kel Mitchell please? 🙏

Michael Jackson is then shown, in the late stages of his career after one of his accidents, with visible pale skin, long curly hair, a black fedora, face mask, and sunglasses getting flanked by security.

For me it is more likely the 1999 bridge accident the the rushing to hospital after HBO-reharsing. He did not have long curley hair in 1995, nor there we have photo`s from him after that whereas he was seen after coming from hospital in Munic

Some specific details on the trailer coming from this video

-Likely won't be the exact same trailer that's going to be released to the public since before the trailer starts it show a disclaimer that says it's "In Development".

-The trailer begins with the Dangerous tour with bits of different songs like Billie Jean and Bad, then it transitions into Man In The Mirror.

-It's Jaafar's voice during the dialogue on the trailer and he sounds scarily identical to Michael, but it's MJ's voice during the songs. Jaafar/Michael says something about "it's my music that makes me alive".

-It shows certain bits of MJ's childhood, like when he's at a late night show singing ABC with his brothers and when he's at the Jackson home (might be the 2300 Jackson street home) with Katherine. That's when she says the line "There might be some people who think you’re different and that’s going to make life a little harder for you, but you never were like anyone else.”

-Jaafar appears VERY skinny during the Thriller/Bad era.

-There are scenes with him inside a house and inside a car, that's where we can see Jaafar's makeup more clearly. The makeup is great during the early and later years but his Thriller era look doesn't look completely right, Jaafar's nose looks too big at certain angles.

-The bit where it shows MJ's drug addiction happens quite fast and it happens while he's composing a song.

-The movie's logo is made with a silver/metallic version of the Thriller font.

-Graham King says there'll be bits of MJ preparing for the This Is It tour during the film.

^^^ that must be the negative reaction I had seen on the Michael movie reddit page, they said this is the only reviewer from the Lionsgate press conference who was not that impressed apparently.

Looks like WW3 is on the horizon anyway so none of us will have a chance to see this film 🫣 😫

Isn`t this scene with Diana at the Oskars 1981 ?

The outfit in the recent Jaafar clip resembles more of this one that Michael wore to Studio 54 circa the late 70s. I feel like that's what was actually captured. It could also be a nod to the Wiz premier in 1978.

that's the way it should be. We see a trailer preview now and still have to wait over a year for the release. I'd rather get a trailer end of the year

Bad enough we're getting all these unauthorized pictures and video clips.....it takes away from the excitement.

I was thinking the same thing. It was only a few weeks ago they were advertising for lookalikes for Liza Minelli, Truman Capote and Bob Fosse. Someone called Allan Wayne Anderson is apparently playing Andy Warhol.

I saw another clip which seemed to lean more towards this. So now I don't know, lol.
