I agree with Destiny. Not strictly R&B enough. It'd work best on Victory to me. And funny enough, Destiny.
Drawing a blank on LS...I agree with Destiny.
On Victory? Idk, perhaps instead of BNA??
As much as I like BNA, I always felt out of place on Victory. To a certain degree, I think BNA, MTS, LS & WDYK are interchangeable.

How so?[...] As much as I like BNA, I always felt out of place on Victory. To a certain degree, I think BNA, MTS, LS & WDYK are interchangeable.
All of them deal with a melancholic topic. How so?
BNA and LS? Do you mean bc of the bleak lyrics? That's the only thing I can think of. LS (and Is It Scary) to me are so operatic, grand, theatrical and epic I can't see any sort of overlap with BNA.
I'm confused.
Yep, definitely a blank. Was literally thinking about that song so much yesterday lolLittle Susie
As much as I like the demo of tgim, I think wdyk would have worked had it been finished for Thriller. (w/o Paul oc)or instead of The Girl Is Mine on Thriller.
Yeah it's hard to tell given the unfinished nature of the demo, but the vibe of WDYK is so special and distinctive. As much as I like the demo of tgim, I think wdyk would have worked had it been finished for Thriller. (w/o Paul oc)
Agree. This could've easily wiped TGIM out of the lineup but when you listen to the lyrics, the song is a bit sad and could've brought down the overall mood of the album. I could hear him reworking the song during his time with John Barnes.....kind of like a 1986 version or somethingWDYK is a great song, easily the best song on T40 and it's the only song from the album that I still listen to regularly. There's not a lot to say about the instrumental as it is pretty bare bones so I wish the estate had saved the song for a remix album instead. If WDYK had been given a full production I believe it could match the quality of ballads like Human Nature easily.
Considering latest of LS or TheToy/BoJ were almost identical to their initial recorded versions, I wouldn't expect huge differences on wdyk except polishing touches.I could hear him reworking the song during his time with John Barnes.....kind of like a 1986 version or something
A lot of known songs from the late 70s early 80s periods deal with sadness. I assume "Why Can't I Be" ain't any different.but when you listen to the lyrics, the song is a bit sad and could've brought down the overall mood of the album.
