The first trailer was just released:

Looks pretty good. I'm excited about this new direction.

Never really been a fan Superman but James Gun usually makes good stuff so maybe it'll be good. Also, nice to see a superhero film with colour in it, so many of them seem to muted or completely devoid of any.

There is so much to love and be excited for in that trailer.

WOW!

This was amazing. I would say that it was even better than I expected. I'm glad they chose James Gunn to direct this.

It’s A Bird, It’s A Plane, It’s A Box Office Hit: ‘Superman’ Opening To $123M – Sunday AM Update:

UPDATE EARLY SUNDAY: Sources are telling us that Superman‘s Saturday is coming in around $37M, -34%, which is indicating a $123M opening for the James Gunn directed DC Studios film, the first in the phase “Gods and Monsters”.

These figures do not come from Warner Bros. If they hold, execs should be doing the Krypto doggie dance in the morning as it’s Warners second $100M-plus opening this year after A Minecraft Movie ($162M), the second-best opening for a Superman movie overall behind Batman v. Superman ($166M), the best opening for a Superman first franchise installment ahead of Man of Steel ($116.6M reported 3-day), and the second best opening, as we said all along, for Gunn behind Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 ($146.5M).

Unfortunately it didn’t really meet my expectations. I liked bits of it and I like a lot of Gunn’s films, but this one…..it just felt way too busy and it didn’t really feel like Superman’s film, more an ensemble piece.

I saw it on Friday night and went back on Saturday to watch it again. I got more out of it on the second viewing but I have to be honest. It just didn’t land for me personally.

And I desperately wanted to love it. Maybe I’ll appreciate it a bit more in time.

I loved Mr Terrific though. His comedic timing was great. And the Green Lantern was also quite entertaining.

I’m still excited for the future of DC though and optimistic.

Mr. Terrific was one of my favorite characters. I wasn't very familiar with him before. I had no problem with the many characters.

I loved the soundtrack:

Looks like you and I are the only two that have seen it.

Mr Terrific was great! Loved him!

It’s a week today since I’ve first watched Superman and I’ve processed it a bit more now. For me, being that I grew up with Christopher Reeve’s Superman, this is a bit of a slow burn and a grower.

Overall I enjoyed it which will grow more into an appreciation and if the DCU expands into this beautiful thing like the MCU then I’ll go back multiple times to Superman and continue to get new little nuggets from it.

So I watched it.

I liked how the movie initially started in the snow, it did hold my attention and make me curious for what would come next.

I liked that they showed CK being interviewed by LLane, because it showed him as a character that had this idealistic view of overall goodness, it reminded me of the WW character in the first WW movie. Characters/people who generally hold onto high ideals out of principle tend to have them severely tested (actually MJs a good example of that!). But I liked that we got to see that side of him.

I would have liked to have seen more of CK, I feel it was mostly all Superman. And it was hard seeing Superman being defeated so early on in the movie.

I liked how LLuther had studied Superman and had programmed all his moves. I think he played the mad/evil genius scientist character well.

I tend to lose interest when superhero movies descend into apocalyptic scenes, they seem overdone to me, so I did find too many of those types of scenes tiring to watch.

The plot twist with Superman's parents was abit strange as their final message seemed out of sync with the first half of their message. I think it was too much of a hard gear change to be believable, I don't know if they needed to villainize his parents in order to give Superman an identity crisis, and he seemed to get over that crisis real quick over a bowl of cereal. Though I did enjoy the references to Smallville. I liked how the final scene was a reenactment of one of the earlier scenes and that what bought him comfort had changed, but I still felt sad for his birth parents.

Mr Terrific was good, I don't feel like the presence of the other additional characters added much to the movie.

I would've liked to have seen more of LLane and Jimmy. They seemed to only have given the romance between Superman and LLane a very cursory glance.

I think this movie was Superman attempting to save the world from the get go, I feel like there was a lack of plot development because the audience was brought into LLuther mad maze early on and had to expend too much energy trying to figure it all out. Would've preferred more of a story.

So in short, I still prefer CR Superman, I think his movies had a nice balance of action and plot.

I judge how good I find a movie based on whether I want to rewatch it. I wouldn't go out of my way to rewatch this Superman, but I might sit through it for abit if it came on my screen.

I found all the Marvel movies followed a very predictable pattern, so it would be nice if DCU gave something different.

Great interview. I really like David Corenswet's answer at 9:50:

I went to see it again and liked it even more. I'm very excited about next year's Supergirl.
