So, let's get this going. Select your rating for the film out of 10. Your honesty is appreciated here so that we can get an accurate reading for MJJC.

If you think the film is a 7, you do not need to give it a 10 to help it's numbers.

Share your vote if you like. I gave it a 6.

I'll update this post with the official MJJC average rating next Friday.

It was a 10 for me. Yes, of course I wish they would have covered more stuff, but I'm just gonna rate the movie based on what was in it and not on what could have been in it. I think what we did see did a great job at showing who Michael was off stage and how great he was on stage. When I'll buy it on blu-ray, there's not a single scene I will feel like skipping while watching, so that's a 10 for me. The perfectionist in me wishes I could fix a few small inaccuracies, but they don't make the movie less enjoyable for me, so I can't really rate the movie lower just because I know Michael's story too well.

It's a fun time at the movies. Seeing it in theaters is a 10/10 experience. Like going to an MJ concert. I don't care if it's not a masterpiece. I go to the movies to be entertained and I was.

Given the fact that the entire third act had to be rewritten, I think they did well with that they had.

If anyone has high expectations for the movie to delve deep into his life, you'll be disappointed. The movie gives some insight into why MJ was the way he was but this movie was made with the intention to appeal to a mass audience. Not just die hard MJ fans and critics who are more critical.

People want to sing and dance along to MJ songs they love and grew up with. The movie accomplishes that. Part 2 (if it's actually coming out) will no doubt delve deeper into MJ's life but part 1 is more of a celebration of Michael.

7 for me

I think as a film, it isn't great, it is firmly a biopic that has to hit special moments in someone's career, at times in a clunky way. With some great acting from all the cast but not something I'll rewatch often if at all om DVD

But as a fan the experience is wonderful, something I'll truly cherish. Celebrating our hero's in cinemas is joyous experience

I would say it's a 7. I don't know if I just had low expectations but it went a bit further in some places than I expected it to, though at the same time it was generally pretty surface level.

For the general audience I think it did enough and the music and me being a fan probably bumped the score up a bit.

As a ā€˜stats’ person this interest me in different levels. Not least because it relates to MJ.

At this juncture (*rounded up/down by nearest % point);

84% - Rate the film 6 or more
59% - 7 or more
36% - 8 or more

As ā€˜stats people’ we look for anomalies. These, whilst they may be ā€˜genuine’, do not fit the normal pattern, and can skew (negatively or positively) the true picture.

These anomalies here, appear to be;

1 vote for 2
1 vote for 4

Nearly all stats adjust for these type of things. If we do that, as I feel comfortable doing;

Average MEAN score = 7.02 (instead of 6.87)

I would say ā€œpretty goodā€ for a film that was panned by critics, and some ā€˜fans’, even before they saw it. šŸ˜‰
