This is strange but mentionings and news are so less than I've ever seen for years I'm here! But here's what we can offer so far :)

Mentionings:

Meet Matt. Now Meet His Opinions.

And, finally, if you don't like Michael Jackson's first three records, then I don't like you.

Raymone Bain Denies Rumor:

A few days ago, the hiphopcrack.com website reported news about the rumored resignation of Ms. Raymone K. Bain, Michael Jackson's general manager. We've been informed by Ms. Bain herself that she's still Mr. Jackson's general manager. Read below Ms. Bain's reply to MJJCommunity:

This story isn't true; don't know how it originated; and, never, ever heard of this website.

Thanks for your inquiry.

Best.
Raymone

Tom Miller was a kid growing up in Lexington when he first saw the body-twisting, gravity-defying, acrobatic moves of breakdancers grooving to hip-hop music.

"I was obsessed with it," he said.

Now some decades later, Miller is still a fan of the dance style, made popular in part by Michael Jackson. And he's training a new generation of kids to love it, too.

Those of us who are old enough to recall, when BET first came out it held a lot of promise and became a source of pride. It promised to fill the void and become a much needed answer to MTV which started out refusing to air videos from Black artists. Eventually Michael Jackson, Run DMC and later Yo MTV Raps knocked down some of those doors, but BET started off promising to be our uncompromised mouthpiece.

Portrait of the Artist
Derek Erdman

Derek Erdman recently celebrated his 34th birthday, and has only been selling paintings since he was 27, but has managed to become one of the most likable artists in Chicago in the past decade.
[...]
Moreover, the Cleveland, Ohio native (and eleven-year Chicago resident) has expressed an interest in continuing to explore new materials and forms apart from his traditional wood and canvas squares—such as framed windows and life-size scenes in which the heads of characters are cut-out holes to allow for the viewer to enter into the painting (such as at carnivals and fairs). Other recent inspirations include Michael Jackson, Washington, D.C. Belway Snipers, Lee Boyd Malvo and John Alan Mohammed.

Derek Erdman’s next show, "Hey! Michael Jackson!" will take place on Thursday, January 24, at The Erdman Art Hut, 2068 North Leavitt, (773)278-2434.

In Stark Contrast
By: Natasha li Pickowicz
[...]
Stark went on to take piano lessons from age seven until he graduated from high school. "My piano teacher really kept my interest at an early age. They were traditional piano lessons - classical music and a lot of theory, which is what you would expect - but the last 15 minutes of every lesson he would say, 'What's your favorite song on the radio?' And this was in the 80s, so I would name a Michael Jackson tune," Stark laughs. "He would write out the melody and chords for me, and let me do my own thing with it. And that got me into improvising. Later on, when I got a little older, I started to see the relationship between pop music and jazz, and how those two could be mixed together."

Did you get a thrill from ‘Thriller'?
story updated January 23. 2008 11:21AM

Do you recall watching the "Thriller" music video for the first time?

The 14-minute video that changed the face of music videos was the ultimate example of innovation. The mini horror film plot, the dance sequences, Michael Jackson's transformation into a werewolf and the spoken words by Vincent Price made the 1983 video the most successful of all time.

The "Thriller" video is just one of the many reasons why the "Thriller" album by Michael Jackson is a classic. It revolutionized the music industry and established Mr. Jackson's status as the King of Pop.

The album celebrated its 25th anniversary in December. The 25th anniversary edition, "Thriller 25," is being released in February.

What are your memories of the album? Some of the album's singles include "Beat It," "Billie Jean," and "P.Y.T." How did it impact the music industry, fashion, dance and how music videos were made?

We want to hear your thoughts for a story to be published in February. Or, better yet, send in your video of yourself doing the Moonwalk. Call reporter Michelle Swartz at 240-5784 or e-mail her at mswartz@monroenews.com.

The calm before the storm perhaps...though I think it may be more like a tsunami :D

Anyways, here's something I found very interestin', even though there is no mention of Michael, I cannot imagine this show not including Thriller...and the timing could not be better.
