You can easily say his dancing style differs night and day from the moment he left Motown, he completely re invented himself vocally, visually and in terms of dancing with Off The Wall.

But what moves did he never abandon throughout his career? Some might be tweaked a bit but the core move still is the same.

The most clear answer is his multiple spinning style. He could do it aged 10 and he did it the same style till he passed away.

There is more but I’m so damn lazy I expect others to carry this thread

Good footage @ArchieSmash but all of your footage is from adult Michael and not Motown Michael, he had a’ready re invented his artistry in the late 70s early 80s so it is not exactly what I was going for.

Not sure I really understand what you're after plus am too tired to get on board but this might count:

He uses a forward step to propel himself across the stage. Don't really know how to describe it but it's very similar to what I've seen him do on BWT 1987. Actually, this video shows two different versions of the same type of step.

time stamp 12s and again at approx 1m 47s

Also, the side shuffle which he picked up from JB, he never abandoned that. He's still doing it on HWT.

@zinniabooklover it is exactly the kind of moves I’m after. That forward step kept evolving throughout the decades. Yes also to the sideshuffle.
Oh, cool. Glad I got it right, I wasn't sure. It's actually dead exciting seeing steps and moves that he carried with him through the years. Especially when you can see a different version of the same thing. That forward step he does at 1m 47s - he does a similar move in Things I Do For You in BWT 1987. I mean, he probably does it in later shows as well but I only really watch the early stuff.

The James brown shuffle. He modified it and adjusted it but the core move was always the same.

He had a very similar moveset in this Jacksons Variety Mime Show that he basically kept for Jam, the music video, and the live performances. And it's really cool. I'll post the videos shortly.
