As announced in November 2022, “Dear Michael” is a documentary short film directed by Joan Bover and is an open letter to Michael Jackson from long fan and film maker Marcos Cabota who also did a documentary on Bruce Swedien called “Sonic Fantasy”.
10 years after Michael Jackson passed away, the filmmaker Marcos Cabotá, decides to write a letter with all the things he could not tell him in life. Cabotá has been a fan of Michael Jackson since he was a child and he is one of the few privileged he met him personally. Dear Michael is a reflection on one of the greatest figures that music has ever given with a very personal point of view.

There's a lot of stop-motion animation in this, and that stuff takes a long time to do, so that's probably why it took so long.

Having watched it the other day I can say it's not anything ground breaking, but it's sweet and full of heart. I think we could all use that right now.
