I think he genuinely believes his client to be innocent and someone else administered. I've always thought that chernoff believes something else is at play here. Whether he is right or wrong about his client being innocent, it's clear he thinks that what happened was not accidental. Whatever people think about chernoff, he's a pretty intelligent guy. Just interesting he said that. I've also thought for a long time that chernoff does not really think MJ did this either, regardless of his defence strategy....strategy being the key word.
