Hi There =)

How did Liz & Michael meet ?
How long were they friends for ?

Did Michael love Liz more than a friend ? =)

From MJ4

1. They met in the 1980s when she attended one of the Jacksons concerts but could barely see the performance so she left. Upset to the point of being in tears, Michael got her number and called her up afterwards to ask why she left and she told him why. They ended up speaking heaps as a resort and the rest is HIStory.

2. They were friends 'til the end (~25 years).

3. I take it you mean in a romantic/sexual manner. It depends on which tabloid you read but in Michael's words:

We're like brother and sister, mother and son, lovers... it's a potpourri... it's something special. We go through this whining thing on the phone... "I need you..." "Oh, I need you, too." We can talk about anything. She's been my most loyal friend. She says she adores me and would do anything for me. She says Hollywood has to write a movie for the two of us. We just have to do something together.
---
Do I get jealous? [when she dates other men] Yes and no. I know that if we ever did anything romantically, the press would be so mean and nasty and call us "The Odd Couple." It would turn into a circus and that's the pain of it all. You know, I push her in a wheelchair sometimes, when she can't walk. It's none of their business what we have together. I have to be with people like me.

I got those from this page, which seems to be a great curation of snippets of MJ talking about Liz.

In this interview he says he has known her closely since he was 16

Michael always looked relaxed and happy when Elizabeth was nearby! :)

Chris Wilding, Elizabeth Taylor's son, interviewed in The Guardian briefly mentions Michael.

"When Wilding was being interviewed for the documentary, he was asked to describe her in one word. He eventually came up with “heart”. She was a loyal friend to so many, he says. He talks about how close she was to Michael Jackson, and how much they had in common. “They both worked from an early age. They were both the principal family support. My mom had great sympathy for Michael. He had led such a sheltered life, but not in a natural way. He, like her in a way, was ill equipped to be out in the real world.”

Did she stand by him after the allegations of child sexual abuse? (Jackson was acquitted of all criminal charges in 2005.) “Yes. She was a staunch friend to everyone she loved.” Damning evidence about Jackson emerged in the 2019 documentary Leaving Neverland, long after he and Taylor had died. Does Wilding think if she were around today, she would she still be fighting his corner? “I think so, yes.”

I hate The Guardian for the way they frame Michael. In this article as well: "Damning evidence about Jackson emerged in the 2019 documentary Leaving Neverland". Words like 'damning evidence' suggest everything said in Leaving Neverland was true. But there was no evidence in Leaving Neverland. Or let me correct that: there was damning evidence in the documentary... evidence that proofed two guys were not telling the truth.

I hear you. The Guardian sucks in regard to their coverage of Michael and this type of coverage is never going to change, I don't think. But this is a good statement from Elizabeth's son and, actually, the fact that he says it in a Guardian interview is good, imo.

Yes, the quote about Elizabeth is great. I was happy to read that.

I just asked f&m on the other thread if I should edit the quote and he said no. What do you think? Don't get me wrong, I cannot stand The Guardian and it's dreadful coverage of Michael (don't even get me started!) but I do love this quote from Chris Wilding. The important thing here is Michael so I don't want to leave anything on the board that doesn't serve him well. Let me know your thoughts.

No, don't change it. It should be here, including our feedback!
