I make this thread for those of us who are interested in those typical end of the year polling charts that show up every end of the year. I don’t know if this is a thing in all countries but it is a very popular thing in Belgium and Holland. If you know any 2021 lists of other countries feel free to post them here.

Today I will post the list of the biggest radio station of Holland which currently is broadcasting their all time top 2000 songs as voted by the listeners.

Here you can see the artists with most entries this year. Michael is in good company here and it very well represented. He had 2 entries less in the list compared to last year. For those interested “rivals” Madonna had just 5 songs in the list, Prince 12, George Michael 17 and Elton John 13. Michael himself had no entries as part of the Jackson 5 or Jacksons which is surprising.

So despite a great number of entries the general trend continues of Michael mostly dropping lots of spots, even losing 2 songs compared to last year ( PYT and Love Never Felt So Good).
I remember in 2009 he had over 30 entries (incl his brothers) with billie jean, thriller and earth song in the top 100.

The news to focus on his Michael’s rank on this chart is #8. That’s what Im focusing on. I look at his rank as compared to his peers, and I see nothing but good news.😎
 
This end of year list comes from the largest Belgian (Flemish) radio station called radio 2. Michael has 14 entries here. It is fascinating to see such a big difference in choices between 2 neighboring countries. Earth song for example isn't in the list here while it is his 2nd most favorite song in Holland's poll. He also has less songs here than in Holland but here he has 2 top 100 tracks while he has none in Holland. There is also no appetite for his 90s work (bar BoW) while it gets plenty of attention in Holland. Another peculiar difference, the jackson's have 2 songs here and none in Holland
This station at adults, the working people. By far the bidets radio station in Flanders. Focus both on classic and modern music. Overall nr 1 to be decided

Prince got 12 entries, Bruce Springsteen 9, Elvis Presley 9, U2 12, Abba 20, The Beatles 10 ( while they have a whopping 31 entries in Holland!), Madonna 15 (another odd difference with just 5 songs in Holland), George Michael 11, Queen 22, Elton John 14, David Bowie 10, Coldplay 12

So as in Holland Queen takes the crown for most hits. The movie probably did them a world of good!

Joe fm one of the leading radio stations in Belgium (nr 3 behind radio 2 and Q music), focus mostly on people aged 30 to 50, thus plays are mostly for the classics, following tracks made the list:

MNM music top 1000 2021 - this station has youth as a main target group which results in a lot of contemporary artists in the list though some evergreens from past decades are in there as well. Madonna got 4 entries and Prince 2, our Michael got to 9 entries listed below.
It meant a lot of clicking to come up with these so I'm not going to go into more details (too much work).
Overall nr 1 song was Coldplay's viva la vida, you will find Ed Sheeran, Adele, The Weeknd, Billie Eilish etc also. numerous times in the list

Q Music big station (nr 2 after radio 2) aimed at a younger demographic (20 - 40) held a top 1000 all time, the people voted for Coldplay's viva la vida as greatest song of all time just like the people from mom music my previous entry. Prince got 5 entries, Madonna 10, Elvis 1, Beatles 3, Abba 11, Queen 10, Springsteen 5, David Bowie 3

Radio 1 - a news station, mostly older listeners only plays Michael rarely. A more sophisticated radio I guess with university alumni's etc. Are about the 5th or 6th biggest station in Flanders.
They have a top 1000 Michael only featured 3 times with billie jean, thriller and beat it, billie jean barely made the top 500 and the other two were to be found around places 800 and dropped big time.

Pink Floyd - wish you were here topped this list, Beatles and Bowie had most entries with about 20 each. Prince is also very popular here with 9 entries. But you also find lots of Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell. Basically most of the critically acclaimed music which makes it no surprise only songs from Thriller registered here.
 
And last but not least we have StuBru's de "tijdloze" top 2000. This is a more alternative radio station with an empathize on rock music though they play lots of pop too the last few years. They aim at young adults and it among the biggest station in Flanders.
This list is swarmed by music by the likes of foo fighters, nirvana, Ramones, Metallica, Pink Floyd, David Bowie, Bruce Springsteen, Prince, Fleetwood Mac etc
Most of those bands all got over 20 entries.

Michael got a fair 10 entries which is ok since he barely registeres airplay on StuBru. These are his entries:

This is a fairly popular station which aims at the classics from past decades mostly. Here are Michael's entries. He had the most entries of any artist closely followed by Queen and Abba but with group efforts added he sprints away from the competition

It’s that time of the year again. Belgians do love voting on all time lists. First results are in. This comes from a radiostation that voted for the top 880 songs from the 80s:

Michael Jackson got 16 entries, 13 solo + 3 Jacksons. Madonna got 13, Prince 11, David Bowie 9 . At first glance this looks to be the top 4. The final 20 are still being voted on but Billie Jean is on the list. So I naturally voted for that song myself. Last year it finished nr 8, hopefully it goes higher this year!

The second list. This one is from radio station JOE FM which is currently the 3rd biggest staton in Belgium (close to 2nd) but considerably behind nr 1 which is radio 2. Its demography is centered towards 30+ people so it mostly plays songs from the 70s to the 2000s. Of course modern music isn't neglected but they so far have not a big impact on the chart. Ed Sheeran seems to be the most popular with 10 entries, together with Adele. Bruno Mars has 9 entries. But then surprisingly Taylor Swift only has 1 entry and Beyonce a mere 4.
The real big cannons are the old acts. Abba (insanely popular in mainland Europe) have 25 entries followed by Queen with 24 and MJ with 23. When the Jacksons are added to his tally he gets 28 entries more than any other artist out there. Freddie Mercury ends up with 27 entries and Agnetha Faltskog (one of the singers of Abba) ends up with 26 entries, Paul McCartney has 24 in his total tally. There is also a local band called "Clouseau" who have 20 entries. These are all artists with 20+ songs on the list.

So Thriller and Bad have 6 songs each in the list and I highly doubt any other album doing as good as these two.

EDIT: I checked out the lists from 2012 till 2022 to check the impact of LN. Billie Jean was constantly a top 10 song (peak at nr 3) before 2019. Since LN Billie Jean plummeted to 40 in 2019 and even 45 in 2020 and so did most other tracks but they seem to be slowly recovering as of late as Billie Jean was at nrs 20 and 21 the last 2 years. Still a long way from its peak at nr 3 though.
