Halloween Death Battle: Thriller Vs Ghosts

I wish we could post polls anywhere. Nobody checks that subforum, therefore the polls don't get many results, therefore people don't bother creating new polls.

I got to say ghosts but Thriller is a Halloween classic. While trick or treating I heard Thriller 8 times. no one even knows the existence of ghosts

Sorry but cannot get my head around this at all.

Ghosts doesn't have even half the vibe of Thriller. I can't see how this would work, tbh. Thriller has got that wild, energetic dance floor vibe - creepy but also upbeat - that makes it so great when you hear it blasting out of a car, a house you're walking past, a building site, a local gym where an aerobics class is happening, whatever. Just anywhere you hear it, the energy changes instantly.

I don't know, they're both brilliant in their own way... Thriller is pure entertainment. Ghosts is a metaphor for MJ's relation to (a part of) the world...

I think group choreography fits a tiny bit better with the Ghosts scenario, while in Thriller, I don't remember it serving any other purpose than being a music video. (I haven't seen both videos in a while.) But both are among the best MJ videos and some of his good acting. (I don't think he was a very good actor in general.)

I was thinking about this last night and really there is no comparison, Thriller is the greatest and most iconic music video (short film) of all time.

Iโ€™ve been watching a lot of reaction videos to the full version and how much it still affects people to this day.

As a fan I enjoy Ghosts but itโ€™s not iconic. Thriller just has that X factor, from the clothing to the shots of the Palace theatre to the music and then the dancing and the final still of Michael with the glowing eyes to Vincent Priceโ€™s evil laugh.

Michael also looks very good looking in Thriller.

I'd go for SC, personally, but ...

... totally agree with this.

As a song and as a video Ghosts just can't compete with Thriller, imo. Ghosts is a fine piece of work. I don't listen to Thriller all that often. But the song and the video have both attained such a huge cultural status that it just dwarfs any other contenders.

Thriller just has that X factor, from the clothing to the shots of the Palace theatre to the music and then the dancing
Short, memorable, easy-to-copy steps. The choreography is brilliant but very accessible even for people who can't dance. Ghosts is hard even for a trained dancer, it doesn't have the same visual impact, imo, plus it really needs the video and all the special effects. With Thriller you just need some raggedy clothes and a desire to have some fun and you're good to go!

and the final still of Michael with the glowing eyes to Vincent Priceโ€™s evil laugh. [...]
15 minutes of perfect storytelling. :)
