Is buying unauthorised recordings an injustice to Michael?

I know that CDs aren’t really that popular nowadays. 20 years ago, when CDs were the rage, I used to buy CDs of live Michael Jackson concerts (Dangerous Tour, etc) - either from eBay or from record fairs.

A friend of mine - also an MJ fan - gave away her live MJ concert CDs because they were unauthorised recordings, and she felt she was “doing a favour” to Michael.

There are a lot of unauthorised recordings of MJ concerts and interviews - and some are uploaded on Youtube.

I’m just wondering - is it unethical and an injustice to purchase unauthorised recordings of MJ? Or is it indirectly OK as long as one is supporting him?

My own view...
No, maybe back then if you purchased only unauthorised stuff and not the official stuff, it would have been unethical (but quite often, those who buy unauthorised stuff are among the ones who also buy all the official stuff).

But nowadays, the whole music industry doesn't want you to own the music you listen to, they don't want you to know about quality and sell "remastered" stuff that sounds worse and worse each round. The estate doesn't seem to care seeing further than the big hits that probably make the most money in these streaming times, and MJ is a big enough artist that this kind of things shouldn't matter (unless you are a bootlegger yourself).
Nowadays, that's just antiquary work (I mean work in the meaning of a hobby).

Buy what you want. Bootlegs are generally stuff that is not available anywhere else. Should we never watch anything on YouTube that isn't from an authorised Sony channel?!

MJ is dead, so there is no longer a difference between "official" and "unofficial". Indeed, being "official" has never been a guarantee of quality.

Also, I asked this:
