Janet Jackson is taking "control," to borrow from the title of one of her biggest albums. MTV reports that the singer will wed her boyfriend Wissam Al Mana and that the couple plans to adopt her late brother Michael Jackson’s three kids: Prince, Paris, and Blanket. They would adopt in lieu of having their own brood.

Janet taking over the care of the children would relieve her mother (and their grandmother) Katherine of her role as caretaker.

Everything we’ve heard about this Wissam guy is so great, but we have a hard time believing it considering Janet’s track record. James Deberge, Rene Elizondo, Jermaine Dupri — has she FINALLY figured out how to pick ‘em?

She is not going to adopt Michael's children. I can see her adopting if she wants children someday but not his. That makes no sense to me. They are related so there is no need for that.

What does it means in terms relating to the estate? She became the guardian and beneficiary?
 
She could become guardin when the day comes that katherine passes away but i guess its up to her if she wants to
 
OH no not more tabloid junk!!!!

First sibling teasing made her fat, and now sibling death made for fat. There is no need to adopt the kids. All she has to be the minor's guardian after grandma passes away. Prince will be 18 soon. Further, didn't the tabloids say Janet was Omar's mom. They need to make up their minds about what role they want Janet to play. One good thing about Janet is that she always keeps her private business quit, and I admire her for it.

However, I remain curious (I know it's none of my business...but it still intrigues me) who has legally been named as a guardian for the children in the event that Katherine passes (God forbid) while they are still minors.
 
I hope its not true. Janet is so closely allied with brother Randy that it would be another sly way for him and the other Jacksons, to get access to Michael's money.

There's no pre-determined guardian. Diana Ross is still an alternative but who the children wants or who the children are close to can all be factors. Plus the age of the children is important. So there's no pre-determined person.

Janet could become a guardian but there's no need for her to adopt the children.

As for the Estate wise questions : even if she becomes a guardian or adopts the children she can only get money to take care of the children. she doesn't become a beneficiary of MJ Estate. If she adopts the children, the children becomes an heir of Janet. So even if she might be a legal guardian one day, I would say that adoptation would be highly unlikely.

I doubt it too. She does not blab her private details to tabloids. She was married for years and no one knew. I doubt she would put her nieces and nephews information out there for people to salivate on. Katherine will hang on for a long time, and even Joe is still enjoying elderly life.
