Between Michael and his dad always was really restless relationship... As far as we all know, Joseph Jackson was very rude and reckless father. He treated Michael in the most hurting way. He beated Michael more than any of his other sons. He mocked him because of his nose. He had never let Michael play with other kids, call him a dad. He forced MJ to infinite amount of training from dawn to dusk. But was he really that bad person...? What do you think? From some sources, claiming that he forced Michael and his brothers to perform in strip clubs and also tried to chemically castrate Michael, so his voice wouldn't age, while he's growing up, we can surely say that Joseph was a monster. But from different point MJ stated in last interviews, that he accepted, that his father did all things terrible things to him. Because without these things, he wouldn't become who he was. Even though I don't really understand how Michael treated his father in his last days... According to "Searching for Neverland", Michael didn't really take his father seriously. When Joseph tried to reach him, MJ didn't let him in his house without appointment. So what was a real chemistry between these two? Michael didn't forgive him after all?

sources: Michael himself

Chemical castration? Come off it.
I don't really believe in that info too, but this is what some sources claim... and knowing Joseph... i'm not really sure whether its true or no

Michael Jackson had a special place in his heart for his father Joseph Jackson.

The singer spoke highly of him in his Oxford Union Speech (2001), stating that his father was not only a good guy but also that had it not been for him, he would have never achieved such a huge success as a pop icon.

He even stated in one of his very final interviews that if he had the opportunity to begin again his life as a kid, he would have wanted to do the same things (rehearsing, recording, performing, and so on).

It is also a common misconception that Michael Jackson had his childhood stolen from him and that he did not have a childhood and that he did not play as a kid.

Michael Jackson had a childhood and he even used to play as a kid (such as, going to carnivals and having his father putting him on ponies, driving race cars for kids on weekends, etc).

Children in Africa who starve do not have a childhood, not Michael Jackson.

That's not true actually, Michael claimed during Dangerous era, that "his childhood was taken away from him", during History era he created Childhood song! So, it says a lot about his lack of child time...

But did he? According to some sources (including Jermaine in his book) Marlon got it the worst.

I'm quite sure that's just tabloid nonsense. Whatever faults he might have had, Joe doesn't come across as stupid, imo. He seems to have been a shrewd manager, as far as I can tell. One person who used to peddle this nonsense story about castration was Conrad Murray. Personally, I wouldn't pay attention to anything he says.

Michael didn't have an easy childhood but there were lighter moments. It wasn't all bad.
