As with most (?) of us here, I also own Michael`s albums on CD, but sometimes I use Spotify for music playback
when I`m not at home aka on the move.
It bothers me a lot that The Ultimate Collection isnt on Spotify, so there are many great MJ songs simply
not available on the service.
My question is: does that go for all regions/countries, or am I just unlucky?
No idea if its possible to contact Spotify and ask if they can add the box set to their service, after all there are 45 million each month that listen to the King Of Pop.
Do you have Spotify…if yes is Ultimate Collection available for you?

I found it, but I had to dig a bit to find it. It doesn't appear on his Spotify page at all; I clicked "Show All" and scrolled through the albums, singles, compilations... not there. Some of the songs are also greyed out for me and can't be played. My guess is this is either due to licensing and/or me being located in the U.S. The stuff from the Wiz, We Are Here to Change the World, and most of the demos/previously unreleased stuff is greyed out. Interestingly, You Are Not Alone is also greyed out.

You Are Not Alone is a slightly extended mix for some reason on this collection.

The Ultimate Collection was taken down from MJ's streaming profiles almost a decade ago (jesus), that's why you can find it only through Google and the songs from it that aren't already available through other albums are grayed out. Right now the only way to listen to these officially is to buy them on iTunes through The Ultimate Fan Extras Collection (disc 4). Then if you buy and download them and have Spotify local files turned on, they'll also be available there.

Thanks everyone for replies.
I did find the album thru that link but as you say many tracks isn available, here the missing songs
isnt greyed out but not visible at all.
Also some mentioning the Local File option but tried it many times….but at least 6-7 years ago…..but couldnt get it to work.
I dont remember what the problem was for me now but maybe because we have a family premium Spotify account
and im not the main host/owner.

those songs aren't visible for anyone unfortunately
local files should work at least on mobile, you might have to enable it in settings

Ok, and maybe the process regarding the local files option works better now compared to 6-7+ years ago when I last tried it.
Also, my tablet and mobile devices are different models now.
I`ll look into it again :)

Tried to add some mp3 files with the local files option but it didnt work.
It works with spotify on pc but not on my phone or tablet.
I see the files on my tablet and in a playlist on Spotify but its greyed out
and not possible to play or download the songs.

It's local files. Meaning they have to be on the device itself in order to play from the source.

I assume you have apple devices?

Maybe just put the songs on your devices if there is no other solution? If it's for private use only, I don't see the problem? There are a lot of songs missing on Spotify, so I just put them on my phone...like we did some years ago...I am old 😂

I recommend iBroadcast, it's a cloud based music player app you can download on your phone, and access through the web also. It lets you upload as many songs as you want actually. It's totally free too, with no ads, though you can spring for premium if you want a higher bitrate.

I plan to upload all of MJs music in there one day.

You're welcome! Sorry you still can't get that album or the Local Files option to work. >.< I have to admit I didn't know that feature was a thing on Spotify... guess I'm showing my age because I still prefer Winamp for all my locally stored files.

Like others here, im old school too :)
I have the option to rip my CDs and transfer the music to my iPad/Android phone, but
since I already have a Spotify subscription, it would be nice to be able to play all officially
released material on the service.
I thought adding my own MP3 files to Spotify …all devices playback…would be an easier
process, so it might not be worth the effort.
I appreciate all suggestions :)
