This was a really even battle which reflect what I thought, I can’t pick a favorite album from these two.

Can I just say, it is very refreshing to see this type of content rather than another crappy Invincible post.

That album does not deserve the ridiculous amount of topics created on it.

Yes refreshing! I have to admit that it’s been so long since I’ve listened to either album that it’s making me think I should give them a re-listen before making an informed opinion.

odd that I would choose the ballad, and a cover on top of that, but it sounds tailor made for michael. It’s poignant and timeless. his voice is immaculate. the former had the misfortune of being recorded during the vocal transition. though I do think it was one of the better songs on that album..

take me back - up again

adorable, gentle, melodic. could have been a single.

one day in your life - all the things you are

has more of an impact (even if it is too sad for me to listen to these days. just thinking about it makes me well up😢). the other sounds like he’s singing someone else’s song, which I think he is. not bad by any means but kinda forgettable..

can’t choose. they both make me sad

neither. one sounds too old for a young man, and the other is lyrically inappropriate.

ditto. I told you I don’t do albums. sighs..

dapper dan - euphoria

no contest. one of my favourite young michael songs 💜 full of life and natural highs💜quirky, wise yet innocent at the same time💜would have made a nice companion to ‘looking through the windows’💜 could have been a hit.

dear michael - morning glow

both are fairly decent. I like the concept and structure of ‘dear michael’. I also love michael singing about the beauty of nature💜 in the end, ‘dear michael’ just about edges it out due to the guitars on ‘morning glow’.

I’ll come home to you - music & me

somewhat of a lost treasure. autobiographical without being self written. I love how he starts off tender then ends up strong. the perfect title track and closer, to bring it full circle from ‘with a child’s heart’.

I knew ‘music & me’ would come out on top for me. I was surprised at by how little though.. as I’ve stated before, I’m not an albums person, but I still find it a lot more enjoyable than ‘forever, Michael’.

This was harder than I expected but it ultimately ended in a tie.

And it's a tie!
I think people sleep on Michael's earlier Motown solo albums because of the lack of creative control but I think they really allowed him to explore his love of ballads in his teen years.
