What songs of Michael's have similar vocal melodies/build-ups/chord progression, whatever you want to call it?

To me, In the Back (around 2:00) sounds the same as Tabloid Junkie (bolded).

We're so gonna lose it
And she, knows that is the deal
She, I
Dah dah dah dah dah
Dah dah dah dah
Dah dah dah dah dah dah dah

In the black
Stab me in the back
In the face

To lie and shame the race

***

We've Had Enough is similar to Billie Jean

What did these soldiers come here for?
If they're for peace, why is there war?

And be careful of what you do (Oh-oh)
'Cause the lie becomes the truth" (Oh-oh)

This happened much too soon (Ha-oh, ha-ooh)

She called me to her room (Ha-oh, hoo!)

What other songs do you think are similar, in that sense?

“I love you, Liberian girl”
“The mind is the magic is you”
“Just remember to always think twice”

The bridges to “Elizabeth, I Love You” and “Alright Now” (written for Ralph Tresvant).

Apparently the melody of “Tomboy” resembles the “I bet you remember/I know you remember” bit of “Remember the Time.”

The verses to Rick James' "Forever and a Day" and "Leave me Alone" have some similar lines

[Verse 1]
Baby if you love me, come on girl and show me
Tell me what I must do
Got you where I want you, I love you girl it's only
Something I’m saying
Baby if you feel it, come on girl and meet
And give me what I desire
Lots of pretty presents I'll lay at your feet
Jus' let me turn on your fire, yeah

[Verse 1]
I don't care what you talkin' 'bout, baby
I don't care what you say
Don't you come walkin' beggin' back, mama
I don't care anyway
Time after time I gave you all of my money
No excuses to make
Ain't no mountain that I can't climb baby
All is goin' my way

I actually make two videos about this:

Serious Effect - woah oh oh-oh-oh
This Time Around (bgv) - oh oh oh oh, oh oh oh oh oh
Invincible (bgv) - oh oh oh oh oh-oh-oh

Get On the Floor - Get on the floor, and dance with me, i love the way you shake your thing, especially
Everybody - oh everybody, get down on the floor, i love the way you shake your thing, you make me want some more

Billie Jean - She called me to her room, and the lies become the truth
Price of Fame - I'm done in my pain, don't you feelin' no pain
Who Is It - It's a promise so untrue, tell me what will i do?
We've Had Enough - What did these soldiers come here for? If they're for peace, why is there war?

Free -
Yesterday was when I felt down
And you came with my stuff and put my fate on the ground
And you have to say that you looked at me
Well, obviously, I do

Elizabeth, I Love You -
But though all the heartaches
When they put you down
You know you were the victor
And you earned the crown
It's like walking through the fire
Determined to win
You were beating life's battles
Again and again

Wondering Who - Hee, Hee, Hee
Say, Say, Say - Ooh, ooh, ooh, say, say, say

Wondering Who (unreleased) - If you tell me this was over...
Off the Wall - when the world is on your shoulder...

Human nature & For all time

i think the choruses for 'blues away' and 'the girl is mine' have an almost identical melody:

'you can't take my blues away, no matter what you say'

'the girl is mine, the doggone girl is mine'

got the hots’ has a similar chorus melody 🎶 to ‘off the wall’. I was surprised that rod temperton had no involvement with it..

It was subconscious, I guess. He mentioned the similarity in this deposition (0:30):

he didn’t mention ‘blues away’ specifically in that clip, but I guess it’s safe to say he’s alluding to that..

I’ve only seen that disposition in parts. it’s very difficult to see him in that state 💔 didn’t he forget making the ‘triumph’ album?😧

Probably not what you look for as this one borrows lyrics but “get on the floor” borrows a line from the jacksons “everybody” or vice versa. Michael had a writing credit in both songs…
the line is “i love the way you shake your thing”. Billie jean is also mentioned in WBSS which I always found interesting as it was written in 1979 already. The woman he talks about claims to have a kid of his. So this story must have happened somewhere between 1976 ( Michael turned 18) and 1979.

edit: i just noticed someone already dug up the “get on the floor/everybody” similarity.
