Every legend tells of conquest and liberty, a wise man once sang. With their first album as The Jacksons, the brothers were finally free to make the music they wanted, such as Blues Away, one of the first songs Michael wrote himself. Step by step, they became true legends. 2026 marks the 50th anniversary of the album's release. Reason enough to listen to it again. Which songs are your favorites?

“Blues Away” was one of my first songs, and though I don’t sing it anymore, I’m not embarrassed to hear it. I couldn’t have gone on in this business if I had ended up hating my own records after all that work. It’s a light song about overcoming a deep depression, I was going for the Jackie Wilson “Lonely Teardrops” way of laughing on the outside to stop the churning inside. ” –Michael on "Blues Away" in his book, Moonwalk
