There were some rumors, that Michael wanted almost every song from Invincible released as a single, so now I wonder which songs had no chance for exclusive distribution. Let's define these little bastards :)

In previous thread we managed to figure out the worst song on Invincible. It's pretty obvious, that this song had zero chance to be a single and promoted with music video, so Privacy is gonna be first anti-single song ✅

The next one in my opinion, should be You Are My Life. Although this song wasn't written by MJ, it's too mediocre to be a single. IMHO. And I know it's about Prince and Paris, still bad quality of vocals ruins any possibility for single release. And that's why this is second anti-single song ✅

The next anti-single song is Invincible. Yep, title album song. The reason why it can't be single is pretty simple - it's not for general public. It's too messy and not catchy enough. Though it could be a cool dance track, but it' just not good enough. Third anti-single ✅

These 3 songs had litterally 0% possibility for single release. The situation with rest 13 song is pretty complicated. Let's make some calculations.

First, let's define songs, that had 100% possibility for single release:

Unbreakable
Break of Dawn
You Rock My World
Butterflies
Speechless
Cry
Whatever Happens
Threatened

Now let's define songs, that were rumored to be a single as there was confirmation from one of the writters of these songs (and other sources). These songs had about 50% possibility for single release:

2000 Watts
Don't Walk Away

And now we have songs, that were never rumored for single release, but they are pretty good. These songs had about 20% possibility for single release:

Heartbreaker
Heaven Can Wait
The Lost Children

By that logic, 'You Are Not Alone' was also a ballad and not written by Michael Jackson (so it looked like an anti-single song), yet it debuted at Number 1 on the US Billboard Hot 100.

Also, 'Whatever Happens' was confirmed by its writers to be the 4th single from the 'Invincible' album.

The experimental Shout made it as a b-side, so I guess every song would've been possible.

What about if they had released an Invincible EP with Unbreakable, Invincible, Heartbreaker and Get Your Weight Off Of Me as an exclusive track? Perhaps it would have been too much noise on one disc but might have made a nice collectible? Too samey perhaps.

Too samey - that's the problem
