Latest on MJJC

"Michael", a biopic about Michael Jackson, is officially happening.

He's only going to be to look so much like his uncle and I think they've done a good job.

Interestingly I think Jaafar looks most like Mike during the Bad era, in that test footage that leaked it reminded me of this video of Michael

Yes, really. It is not my expectation that in a biopic the actor looks 100% like the real person he is playing. What's important is that it conveys to the audience who Michael was and what made him special and that people go home from the cinema straight to YouTube and Spotify to see and hear the real Michael.

Perhaps it was referring to The Jacksons 2300 Jackson Street album? I know they didn't end working together but it was done in 1989

I think Jaafar looks like Michael there. Sure it's not absolutely perfect but it's only a movie

I don't get why people think there is a such thing as "free speech". There isn't. That only has to do the the United States government. A private company can censor anything they like for any reason. Like Walmart only sells the clean version of albums, not the ones with a parental advisory sticker on it. Websites delete comments all the time if they are against the rules, people arguing, or if it's troll comments. Regular radio stations cannot have any profanity on them, except for a couple of hours after midnight. But most don't do it, especially commercial radio that runs from advertising.. Some college radio stations will at the designated time, because they operate from listener pledges, not from commercial ads. Otherwise they will get a FCC fine. The FCC also fined the networks that had the Janet Jackson/Justin Timberlake Superbowl performance and some radio stations stopped playing Janet's music. A lot of country radio stations banned the Dixie Chicks music because of the George W. Bush comment by Natalie Maines. Regular TV networks (ABC, NBC, CBS. PBS, etc) edit theatrical movies

You know what , these look better than the ones earlier. I'm relieved again, it must have just been the bad lighting.

I guess we can't be too harsh on dodgy pictures that are being leaked, once Hollywood does its magic, I'm sure the it will look much better on screen.

Ps, the 4th pic , looks like they have someone playing Bill Bray which is cool and looks authentic, they are really doing their homework.

And that's all ridiculous and bullshit. And done because of some cry babies who feel they need to censor what they don't want to hear. What's the point to have an honest discussion, when there are some things you can't/are not allowed to say? Not really honest then, is it?
 
Just a theory: what if this leads into the Motown 25 performance? Jafaar’s hairstyle looks very March 1983 to me. Perhaps Katherine will tell Michael something to encourage him at the end of this scene (“your brothers really love you and seeing all of you onstage again would be wonderful. But then, when you are there by yourself, that moment is yours!”), and then BOOM, Billie Jean starts playing. Just trying to be creative I guess lol.

I strongly believe that everyone should take a step back from the Michael Jackson 'stan' perspective and view this as a movie production that aims at a much broader audience. Of course Jaafar isn't going to look exactly like MJ, but then again, who does?

Instead of nitpicking, why not acknowledge the incredible work the makeup artists have done? His hair looks fantastic and very true to MJ's style during the Thriller era.

Let's take a moment to appreciate that this project is happening and that it's being handled professionally and respectfully.

Of course we need that biopic. Every artist is getting one or had one. It is the last time for Michael the artist to shine on a global level. Releases like thriller40 pale in comparison to the attention this film is going to get. If this thing makes money then demand for anything Michael related will be big. It’s a win win situation for us fans.

This is why it is so important to get it right.

As you rightly said, there will be nothing bigger for Michael's career and the reach the biopic can have on a global scale, it will attract massive amounts of media attention and he will gain new fans from this.

If successful, there could be a big shift in MJ's favour.

There are other countries. It’s not all about North America. We have proper freedom of speech in Sweden. Of course, the internet is its own thing.

what else is there for Michael to step into the limelight? He is gone. Anniversary albums, remixes, holograms you name it, none of those have the same reach and impact as a Hollywood blockbuster film.

Well, the doomsday clock says it is closer than it has ever been.
 
Imagine they more accurately emulate Bad and Dangerous Era MJ than Thriller era. That'd be straight up fascinating.

Then it is revealed that it is an older Michael re imagining these old times, confiding and pouring his heart out to a friend or even therapist.

It was a recurring topic throughout his life that he missed out on being a kid so it should be a central theme in the film to get the audience on his side. It will also ease in later adult scenes at Neverland of Michael having fun with children (possibly with Childhood playing during a montage)

They should avoid anything that movie did.
