MJJCs Official Daily Poems & Reflections Thread

Lost in the light of the moon...
I'm searching for tomorrow...
Falling in sheer darkness
I seek for your hand to hold mine...
Every second my heart is craving for you
and the pain of being without you
is overpowering my soul...
If only I could begin my life
all over again with You...

Beautiful ^_^

Beautiful poetry everyone!

Fujon, your poem is exquisite!

Here's one that I wrote on Earth night, after we turned the electricity off and I gazed at the candles burning on the dresser...

Candlelight

In candlelight I study your beauty
Silken skin bathed in amber
An awakening flickers within me
Like the light that kisses your face
Framed in raven shadows
Coiled locks spill round your neck
And touch the curve of your shoulder
Bravely bared against the chill air
Onyx eyes beckon to a sacred reunion
Drawing me nearer
I melt at your touch
Like the wax upon my dresser
Yielding, melding into your form
Lips taste the warmth
Limbs feel the heat
The candlelight pales
In the radiance of our love
And we are consumed

Lost in the light of the moon...
I'm searching for tomorrow...
Falling in sheer darkness
I seek for your hand to hold mine...
Every second my heart is craving for you
and the pain of being without you
is overpowering my soul...
If only I could begin my life
all over again with You...

Sad but Sweet Poem Fujon ty for sharing it HUG :)

New Horizons

I am taking a journey elsewhere and now it is
time to reinvent and pack up those yester years.
Life can take us through so much as it often does
sometimes it holds many facets and various turns.
Sometimes I feel discontentment in the sad howling
of the winds lonesome calls out in the empty void.
I was always told to hold my head up high and not
to let others make me feel less than I can truly be.
This is the time to show I can be more than what
I always doubted I could be I am not lacking not me.
There will be no more restless nights pondering this or
wondering of that and wishing life would turn out fine.
For now I want to gain it all in one fell swoop for inside
inner desires do I carry this hope unto my weary heart.
Shaking off this cloak or sorrows I shall abandon anything
that will hinder progress and keep my eye on the prize.
So it is time to spread my wings and to gracefully soar
out into the vast New Horizons and take it head on full.
In doing so I can gain the momentum I have always known
I had but never ever acted upon for fear of failing me again.

Loves Mysterious Ways

I am so very sorry to say ….
That love works in such mysterious ways
And sometimes I feel it’ over used or maybe
Even totally abused it is such a word and emotion
That for me holds much validity and truth.
Sometimes it makes me feel so very sad
Other times I welcome it most glad.
Like when my children tell me they do.
Hugging me close like I am the most greatest
Of any won prize in their lives and I smile.
Love makes me wonder sometimes makes me cry
I cannot fathom all these unspent emotions inside
If I could express them all to you I do so fear it
Would take me forever and a day to convey it fully
Sometimes the mere thought of it makes me want to
Run and hide never to deal with it for fear of hurt.
Hurt is something I am not a fan of deep inside it
Cuts you rendering you helpless to its devices pure
At times ‘made me to feel stupid and foolish for
Even trying to venture out into such a state of heart
It has you fumbling stumbling and sometimes blinded
Yes that is how it goes and that is why they say that
Love does so work in such a mysterious ways.

God Given Right

I have full and complete right
If not for want of anything else
But to say on how I feel
Even if you don’t hear me at all
For as much as I still need to say
I want you to know that it still hurts
But time heals all wounds in due time.
I needed to have my say on this matter
For this is my God Given Right.

Thanks for sharing your poems Poe. HUG I especially like "Loves Mysterious Ways". So true.

Holding You

I hold your face and you hold mine
Separate but entwined
Child-hearts balancing on a precipice
Holding on…
Salty kisses, wet with tears
Butterflies dancing upon wells of sorrow
Lips skim the surface
Thoughts dive within
Deep… deep
Holding on, we float in a cavern
Of emptiness
Of loneliness
Dark, cold, remote emptiness
But I am there with you
You are not alone
Not while my kisses dance upon your face
Not while I silently regard your darkness
Feeling the chill
Warming you with my love
And holding you
Forever, holding you…

Dimity

Please Bring Me

Please bring me
The still, quiet of dawn
A private sunrise
Tea in a porcelain cup
A sun-soaked meadow
Butterflies dancing on wildflowers
The fresh scents of a forest trail
Please bring me
Happy sounds of children playing
A long conversation with a dear friend
Truth to enlighten
Poetry to inspire
Stories to entertain
Knowledge to instruct
Please bring me
The warm embrace of true affection
A place to snuggle deep upon another
The certainty that I am loved
Please bring me
A long walk in the evening
My soul’s flight across the gully
To farewell the setting sun
Music to dance to
Moonlight shadows
The secrets of the night
A hot shower before bed
Fresh sheets and a warm spot for my feet
Please bring me
Peace
And a heart filled with gratitude
Amen

In the picture it states:

Mr. and Mrs. King
Such an inspiration
came together helping the nation to become one.
Your integration, hope and dedication will not be forgotten.
The unforgettable speech " I have a dream" has touched the lives and hearts of many.
Dr. King where would we be if it wasn't for your vision
of people all races and color coming together in peace,
overcoming barriers of injustice and hatred.
Mr. and Mrs. King thank you for your leadership,
your guidance to righteousness
and your walk that set us free.

simply beautiful. a lot of clarity, imagery, rhythm, etc. I like this poem a lot.

Sweets, thanks for posting. beautiful poem, MLK is a huge source of inspiration to me as well.

I'm glad that you enjoyed my poems Beautiful Immunity and WritergirlAD.

There are so many different kinds of poems--all different reflections of the people who created them--some more symbolic, others straight to the point, some intense, others more intellectual, some like abstract sculptures or political statements. It fascinates me. There are folk who like my poems, and others who can't bear them--finding them too intense. In poetry we get a glimpse, a sort of raw sample of a person's heart, mind and personality, and just as with people, some poems attract us as we empathize with them, and others leave us cold.

Sometimes I have read a poem written by a prize-winning poet and at first wondered what was so special about it and why it won such wide acclaim, but then after I have read it over a few times and I have begun to see the magic in it, the brilliance of it... Sometimes the best poems are not "in your face" as mine so often are, but hold subtle meanings that creep up on one and take one by surprise. I hope that I can learn to write poems like that one day. I hope that I can become more like that myself one day--more of a mystery, and less of an open book. (Here I go again! Haha.)

Ah well, I'll stop blethering. All of that was in answer to WritergirlAD's question as to whether I've ever considered getting my poems published... I've wondered about it, but then I realize that my poems would probably please only a certain audience. But perhaps that is always going to be the case regardless of who the poet is. I've had a few poems published here and there. I'd love to see so many of the poets here have their poems published. MJJC's got talent!

Here's one of those poems written by an acclaimed American poet, Billy Collins in 1998. This poem blew me away with its clarity and simplicity. It is so different to the things that I write. I loved it, and it challenged me...

Japan
~Billy Collins~

Today I pass the time reading
a favorite haiku,
saying the few words over and over.

It feels like eating
the same small, perfect grape
again and again.

I walk through the house reciting it
and leave its letters falling
through the air of every room.

I stand by the big silence of the piano and say it.
I say it in front of a painting of the sea.
I tap out its rhythm on an empty shelf.

I listen to myself saying it,
then I say it without listening,
then I hear it without saying it.

And when the dog looks up at me,
I kneel down on the floor
and whisper it into each of his long white ears.

It's the one about the one-ton
temple bell
with the moth sleeping on its surface,

and every time I say it, I feel the excruciating
pressure of the moth
on the surface of the iron bell.

When I say it at the window,
the bell is the world
and I am the moth resting there.

When I say it at the mirror,
I am the heavy bell
and the moth is life with its papery wings.

And later, when I say it to you in the dark,
you are the bell,
and I am the tongue of the bell, ringing you,

and the moth has flown
from its line
and moves like a hinge in the air above our bed.

Oh my...Dimity, that poem was awesome. I like how he named it "Japan" perhaps depicting where he was at the time he wrote it. Also the simplicity and still eloquence of the wording blend so well.

Sorry I havent been posting in a long while...been busy.;) Here's a new poem by me:

This Time its forever

Your smile, broader than it’s ever been

My heart pumping loudly deep within

You…you hug me tighter by my waist

I…I feel secure in your embrace

The promise of us as one makes me sigh in bliss

“This time it’s forever,” you breathe through that sealing kiss

Very nice Poem SmoothCriminal12 I like it :flowers:

Thinking about the twin towers today after watching a clip of a man on the phone with 9-1-1 who died that day. Cowering in an office filled with smoke, listening to him plead as the operator told him to stay put, my heart broke listening to him explaining about the men close to him. What was this man's thoughts of? His wife and that he'd already called her to say that he was alright. Thinking back to the days that followed when they couldnt even find bodies and Guiliani saying they were in peices, i thought of his wife, and how she would have thought he had been spared. He'd called her just before the second plane had crashed through. He was on his way out, but instead got trapped, and like most of them, perished that day.

Here is the clip. I know this is not anything to do with this section, but i cannot help but post it somewhere. i hope that we have not forgotten what these people went through that day.

yw poefiend. i hope others see it too. it moved me. i hope people will always remember and be moved, and pray it will never ever happen again anywhere.

~~~~~
the griever
the griever is not the one who grieves, but the one who delivers it
their touch, ever so light, applies just a little here, some more there, til it
finds just the right spot, tender, vulnerable from previous injury,
ever so slightly at first, until it bears down with full weight,
all the while, whether by design or cruel intention, it appears quite oblivious.
the griever is not the one who grieves, but the one who invokes the name
of the utmost high power either negatively or positively for attention or
to garner favor in the eyes of others, not for the purpose of
benefitting that whom they claim their adoration, be that man or Spirit.
He who is grieved, is none other than the utmost high power Himself,
and those who are fooled and left wanting.
the griever is not the one who grieves, but the one who tries to play peacemaker,
who has stood in the role of intecessor, but is judged and
regarded suspiciously, for neither knows what role the other plays,
and the peacemaker deemed self serving brings forth no fruit whatsoever,
for all they have done is created more grief in the one who never understood
what role the peacemaker played nor their own hand in the fate that is theirs alone to own.
the grievers speculate on that which they do not full well know, filling in gaps
where there are holes in their own understanding, and not that which is true,
they refuse to recognize any weaknesses of their own, and rather try to pass the buck,
and see not what the guideposts tried to point to, it is easier to grieve than to see or to change.
the griever is the one who makes it, creates it, manufactures it, suspects it, gossips it,
claims it and delivers it or is the one who tries to make a difference.
Re: Poetry In Motion
I posted this one this morning, just before the forum vanished. :huh:
I hope it won't have the same effect if I post it again???
The Endless Black Sky
My true, forever lover is the endless black sky
Her celestial arms, my only home
A comfort in the cradle of the night
Ivory steps in fleeting formation
Guide my way through her vast chambers
And lead me to her dance halls
Will I dance with you tonight my love?
Calling me
Each star tempts me with its brilliance
Like a virgin field beckoning.
Come fill yourself in my emptiness!
I breathe in her splendour
I bathe in her spaces
Diving into her depths
I inhabit her limitless reaches.
Wrap me in your sapphire cloak
Adorn me with a moonlight crown
Take me home
And I will dance for you
Oh my lover divine
Until the wind sighs and the earth cries
And I return in exile from the night
I love this one! It reminds me of a poem I wrote a few days ago. I wasn't going to share it in here but I will...I'll share one version. (there are two, plus the initial one before editing)
Romance of the Sun and the Moon
Starlight leads on
to another plane
reach
across the sky
feel our finger
tips brush
Eyes close gently
like the gentleness
you breath
into the air
when you speak
quiet resonance stay
long after lips close
I feel you inside
my chest
quickens
my
beat
Pulses
of light pierce our
moonless sky
but
where's moon?
Only hiding in a shadow
Still she
sighs
to the one
readies
herself
for her full brilliance
Sun soothingly whispers
hold on
Soon my love
my light
will shine
on your beautious form
a spotlight
to show the world our brilliance
Together
we will dance
to
spill
light
across the earth
