Songs NOT by MJ that remind you of him

"Bacchikoi" by Dev Parade for Naruto Shippuden's 8th Closing theme, that always reminded me of Michael's "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'" performances.

Call the man - Celine Dion

Especially this part..

Call the man
Who deals in love beyond repair
He can heal the world
Of hearts in need of care
Shine a light ahead
When the next step is unclear
Call the man
He's needed here

I was listening to the Impossible Dream (Luther Vandross' version) and I instantly thought of Michael.

To dream the impossible dream
To fight the unbeatable foe
To bear with unbearable sorrow
To run where the brave dare not go

To right the unrightable wrong
To love pure and chaste from afar
To try when your arms are too weary
To reach the unreachable star

This is my quest
To follow that star
No matter how hopeless
No matter how far

To fight for the right
Without question or pause
To be willing to march into Hell
For a heavenly cause

And I know if I'll only be true
To this glorious quest
That my heart will lie peaceful and calm
When I'm laid to my rest

And the world will be better for this
That one man, scorned and covered with scars
Still strove with his last ounce of courage
To reach the unreachable star

^ To me, that's the story of MJ's life. He really did dream the impossible dream.

Cut Here - The Cure

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N5y4DuTCdKM

"So we meet again!" and I offer my hand
All dry and English slow
And you look at me and I understand
Yeah it's a look I used to know
"Three long years... and your favourite man...
Is that any way to say hello?"
And you hold me... like you'll never let me go

"Oh c'mon and have a drink with me
Sit down and talk a while..."
"Oh I wish I could... and I will!
But now I just don't have the time..."
And over my shoulder as I walk away
I see you give that look goodbye...
I still see that look in your eye...

So dizzy Mr. Busy - Too much rush to talk to Billy
All the silly frilly things have to first get done
In a minute - sometime soon - maybe next time - make it June
Until later... doesn't always come

It's so hard to think "It ends sometime
And this could be the last
I should really hear you sing again
And I should really watch you dance"
Because it's hard to think
"I'll never get another chance
To hold you... to hold you... "

But chilly Mr. Dilly - Too much rush to talk to Billy
All the tizzy fizzy idiot things must get done
In a second - just hang on - all in good time - wont be long
Until later...

I should've stopped to think - I should've made the time
I could've had that drink - I could've talked a while
I would've done it right - I would've moved us on
But I didn't - now it's all too late
It's over... over
And you're gone..

I miss you I miss you I miss you
I miss you I miss you I miss you so much

But how many times can I walk away and wish "If only..."
But how many times can I talk this way and wish "If only..."
Keep on making the same mistake
Keep on aching the same heartbreak
I wish "If only..."

But "If only...."
Is a wish too late...

Sweet Dreams by Beyonce

Because You Live by Jesse McCartney

My Heart Will Go On by Celine Dion

Today, on my way back home, it was Josh Groban's "To where you are".... I couldn't help crying right there :(

To where you are
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-uIQp9Dqcrw

Who can say for certain
Maybe you're still here
I feel you all around me
Your memories so clear

Deep in the stillness
I can hear you speak
You're still an inspiration
Can it be (?)
That you are mine
Forever love
And you are watching over me from up above

Fly me up to where you are
Beyond the distant star
I wish upon tonight
To see you smile
If only for awhile to know you're there
A breath away's not far
To where you are

Are you gently sleeping
Here inside my dream
And isn't faith believing
All power can't be seen

As my heart holds you
Just one beat away
I cherish all you gave me everyday
'Cause you are mine
Forever love
Watching me from up above

And I believe
That angels breathe
And that love will live on and never leave

Fly me up
To where you are
Beyond the distant star
I wish upon tonight
To see you smile
If only for awhile
To know you're there
A breath away's not far
To where you are

I know you're there
A breath away's not far
To where you are

No one but you by Queen. They did this song after Freddie Mercury died and its just so fitting. I cry everytime, I hear it.

A hand above the water
An angel reaching for the sky
Is it raining in heaven -
Do you want us to cry?

And everywhere the broken-hearted
On every lonely avenue
No-one could reach them
No-one but you

One by one
Only the Good die young
They're only flying too close to the sun
And life goes on -
Without you...

Another Tricky Situation
I get to drownin' in the Blues
And I find myself thinkin'
Well - what would you do?

Yes! - it was such an operation
Forever paying every due
Hell, you made a sensation
You found a way through

One by one
Only the Good die young
They're only flyin' too close to the sun
We'll remember -
Forever...

And now the party must be over
I guess we'll never understand
The sense of your leaving
Was in the way it was planned...

So we grace another table
And raise our glasses one more time
There's a face at the window
And i aint never, never saying goodbye...

One by one
Only the Good die young
They're only flyin' too close to the sun
Cryin' for nothing
Cryin' for no-one
No-one but you

the fool on the hill - the beatles

all i could think of right now...but there are loads more.

oh and comfortably numb by pink floyd.

"this will keep you going for the show / come on, it's time to go."

Loving You Still (Tamia)

Fell in love, had everything that I wanted
What a life for me
Now a thing don't mean a thing
Since we've parted
Meant the world to me
And though my heart's still beatin'
When will I breathe again
And when will someone wake me
From this awful dream I'm in

If you could see the way I live my life
If you could see the way I cry at night
If you could understand the reasons why
That I'm loving you still
If you could hear me when I call your name
You gotta know it's driving me insane
I know I'll never ever love again
Cuz I'm loving you still

I had someone watch over me, my protector
Kept me safe and warm
I had someone makin' love to me
I thought forever
But, forever now is gone

So I spend my days pretending
I spend my nights alone
I never missed somebody so
I've never loved so strong

And now that you have gone away
Lord knows that I must pray
That we will meet again
But until then, oh

Another One Bites the Dust - Queen

I just recently discovered the genius that is Freddie Mercury, he reminds me so much of Michael.

and it saddens me that they are both no longer with us. :(

Yes, they both are genious and it is so incredible they did work together. And their song it's perfect for us to hold on to hope... now :( (sorry... off topic, since it IS a MJ song.... but... I just thought it's fine in this case).

There must be more to life than this
There must be more to life than this
How do we cope in a world without love
Mending all those broken hearts
And tending to those crying faces

There must be more to life than living
A better way for us to survive
Why should it be just a case of black or white
There must be more to life than this

Why is this world so full of hate
People dying everywhere
And we destroy what we create
People fighting for their human rights
But we just go on saying c'est la vie
So this is life

There must be more to life than killing
There must be more than meets the eye
What good is life, if in the end we all must die
There must be more to life than this

There must be more to life than killing
There must be more to life than this
I live in hope for a world filled with love
Then we can all just live in peace

There must be more to life, much more to life
There must be more to life, more to life than this

"How Come The World Won't Stop"

Somebody told me
you were not coming home
the words are spinnin' in time
and the air suddenly went cold

The sun is still shining
but everything feels like rain, oh
and if I had one wish
it would be to see you again

Nothing's fair
when we loose
without a moment to say goodbye

How come the world won't stop spinning
now that you're gone (now that you're gone)
I know every end has beginnings
but this one's all wrong (this one's all wrong)
so wrong, so wrong

Caught in the middle
wrong place, wrong time
and I'm hopelessly missing you
and I can't stop deny

Nothing's fair anymore
and I know there's a better place
and I'll never stop dreaming of you
ooooh

How come the world won't stop spinning
(now that you're gone) now that you're gone
I know every end has beginnings
but this one's all wrong (this one's all wrong)
so wrong, so wrong

How can the seasons keep changing
since you disappeared
oh yeah
(tell me) how come the world won't stop
how come the world won't stop

Sweet tears are shed
this pain we lay to rest
it's hard lettin' go
but I keep movin' on
in a place I don't belong

How come the world (stop spinning)
said now that you're gone
I know every end has beginning
said this one's all wrong
said this one's all wrong
(how can the seasons) keep changing
since you disappeared
oh, you're gone
you're gone
how come the world won't stop
how come the world won't stop

How come the world won't stop spinning
now that you're gone
yeah heya
I know every end has beginning
but this one's all wrong
so wrong

"YOU ARE MY SUNSHINE" By Elizabeth Mitchell

You are my sunshine, my only sunshine
You make me happy when skies are gray
You'll never know dear, how much I love you
Please don't take my sunshine away

The other night dear, as I lay sleeping
I dreamed I held you in my arms
But when I awoke, dear, I was mistaken
So I hung my head and I cried.

You are my sunshine, my only sunshine
You make me happy when skies are gray
You'll never know dear, how much I love you
Please don't take my sunshine away ...

if perfectly fits what i feel...

I can't listen to that anymore after seeing the video of Prince and Paris singing it. Paris at the end singing 'please don't take my daddy away' breaks my heart into tiny pieces

Ok, so i'm basically a full fleged child of the 90s. I was born in '87 so I got to see the 90's at a young and innocent age. So when the movie Titanic came out I was probably 10 years old. I don't know what my parents were thinking but I saw the movie in theaters 3 times, and a bazillion times when I got it on VHS. I remember being obsessed not only with the movie, but mostly with the music. I was instantly hooked with the melodies James Horner came up with. I owned the soundtrack and listened to it in the car whenever possible! Scary, I know, considering most people despise the movie and the theme song nowadays.

But...strangely enough, I came across the Back to Titanic (More Music from the Motion Picture) CD I had and popped it in for a whirl. The song I went to was the tune "The Portrait" where I think is the scene in which Rose is being sketched by Jack. It's the piano melody only of the tune "My Heart Will Go On".

Now, in my mind I heard the lyrics, but I was only listening to the instrumental (which, i believe to be better than the the song done by Celine Dion...which I simply cannot listen to anymore, lol)

But while listening to the piano and hearing the words in my head, and that oh so familiar melody that I attached to almost 12 years ago.....all I could think about now....was Michael. Never before had I made that connection. Not even when I first heard the music. But now, all I can think about is how hauntingly beautiful the music is to me, and all I see is Michael. It reminds me that he was alive when this music came out. That this was only a decade ago, at the most. Hell, now even the lyrics relate to him. To Hell with Jack....I'm thinking about Michael now!!! I'm thinking in kind of the same placement as the song intends though. It's about...well moving on from something one cannot help. The death of someone or something and the strength to keep going on in life. This is exactly what many of us are trying to deal with right now.

And now, even the other songs like "Never an Absolution" and "Hymn to the Sea" make me think of Michael even though he has nothing to do with Gaelic/Celtic influences in the music. And now I just feel like one big retarded mess because this music makes me think of him. Music that I haven't listened to in over 11 years! Music that most people scorn and scoff at because of the stereotype Titanic has now as a cheesy blockbuster. As big as Titanic was for me, I got over it pretty quickly back then though! But melodies never die out for me, and I always remembered the themes in the movie.

So for any of you 90's kids, or previous Titanic fanatics.....go listen to the songs I listed and see what you think of....
