I have never seen that too. Usually he is just "Michael Jackson" or then something negative, but that's kinda very positive because it is simply like that, he really IS "recording artist". And saying like that means, he is still recording. If it was "the biggest selling pop artist of all time" or things like that, someone who is not that familiar with him might actually think he's retired. I know there are so many teenagers who really think he is retired because they have grown never seeing him performing live.
