[Video] Another Part of Me performance from Wembley DVD

What I take issue with and deem to be nonsense is to accuse the Estate of having a better quality then the VHS and refusung to release it. There is NO logical reason to do that. that doesnt help earn more money, it doent serve MJ or help thier repustation to do so. So why would they. Im just tired of the conspiracy I guess.

I am not saying he has it,but (from what I heard) he knows where to go get it and who has it. But the cost of it and rights and all that stuff,it's more work than just a VHS. He took short cuts like that. That is what I was saying. Sorry if I wasn't clear on that.

and how reliable is this what you heard? is it hearsay? direct source?

regardless PM me the information and I would be happy to send it to the Estate and ask them why and challenge their story, if there's any credibility to those stories.

And believe me,I am super excited for this concert. Just as much as you guys. But I liked the original look better,I didn't think they did a great job. It looks like a painting or they used stuff like video de noise. And from what many said about the Bad 25 Documentary from Spike Lee,when MITM showed,it wasn't great. We all don't know what the official DVD quality is like. Everything in this thread is full of assumptions and thoughts. We don't know a lot. The VHS is better than nothing but I am more than sure they could of found something else or better. We all know the estate isn't trustworthy. Am I trying to bash Bad 25? No. I just don't like the picture and this discussion of course isn't going to change anything or do anything, but I can say my opinion just like you guys can. This is a forum. And saying everyone is "bitching" isn't so polite either. But of course there are opinions on this. We are fans and not all of us are happy with it. Watch APOM the official video and then watch that. It sucks. They didn't do a good job enhancing it and we don't know if this is the only version they can get. This is all they have for that date, yes, but what about what they can get and pay for. And I'm sure they could of chosen other concerts. Look at Dirty Diana MSG and APOM Official Video and Bad Tour LA. They clearly have Wembley 15,1988,so they must have more.

for me this discussion about quality is just killing the time till next friday

@code753
the first screen from the tvc you posted is de-interlaced and depending on what method is used, the picture softens (blurry). and that screenshot is re-sized to 810x608, so again falsify the real quality.

the second screeshot. just forget it. its heavy de-noised, there comes that cartoonish look mjmax is talking about.
you know that all these "re-masterer" here like to reduce the noises to death, till the picture looks like paiting, cause they think thats how 'HQ' should look like.

I think the only file that comes close to what the dvd is going to be is the tvc.mpg
everything else that surfaced the daylight since AOPM was streamed by amazon, is misleading. cause everyone puts his finger on that video.

I know i sound like smartass, but just by the look of that screeshot of PrinceHDance, to me it was obvious that it was re-encoded and tweaked. But mjmax and rsggammer, didn't belive me.

By the look of what mjmax did with LA 12min, to me he de-noised a little and added some grain filter so the picture doesn't look washed out, but more natural and to compensate the lost of detail, by the DNR. I may be wrong.

I think they've done a great job and I'm looking foward to the DVD because at the end of the they could of said we can't anything accept MJ's VHS oh well we can't releasing anything sorry to all the fans.

BUT THEY DIDNT

Well, tell what gong on. let the bird out. I also think this might be the case, but never heard or read anything credible.

For a DVD release PICTURE QUALITY should have been the priority. If they loved the Wembley multi tracks so much, they should've just used it for the Live CD and chosen a better one (possibly LA) for the DVD/Bluray.

Seriously i dont know what all the fuss is about. Quality looks pretty damn good to me. Alot better then what i was expeccting so im happy :)

Ok, so I did a quick restoration of the web rip of APOM. The main goal was to remove, even just a bit, the pro crew mistakes. I reduced contrast and corrected levels instead. I reduced the saturation and corrected the colors (to get the natural skin color). Not a big deal but still I think it turned out well :) Maybe after watching this, some of you will realize that the footage could have been restored better as they used pro software and have the VHS source instead of web rip :D

So here it is ;)

Feedback and all your opinions would be much appreciaded :)

allegedly.

Are you serious? What a dumb conspiracy. Enjoy saving 10 dollars and waiting for something that doesnt exist to come out. You know how easy it'd be to scan in a film master for Sony vs having a pay a company a ton of money to restore a tape?

To all these people out there that are all angry, thinking Sony has the masters, Im going to be having the time of my life watching Bad Tour Wembley with decent quality and amazing audio while you sit at home angry that something the Estate doesnt have isn't being released.

Not all fans are pleased. I read more fans commenting saying they are not pleased then fans actually writing they are pleased. I am not clueless. We are all making assumptions. Most of us are clueless. I haven't read most posts. And I didn't know it wasn't the final quality, neither do you or others. And not sure about that. Pretty sure they could of found something. I have read and heard many things. They took shortcuts. I think we all forgot how much it costs to use and get footage like this. They may of lost the 35 MM,but that doesn't mean others don't have it. And have we all forgot too that the estate is not trustworthy? And I'm not sure if they did a great job,but if you want to think that, then sure. And I am staying real.

I know bro, its so sad that the Estate didn't pay an army of millions of people to scour the entire Earth looking for these lost tapes, those monsters. You are reading more people complaining because 90% of the people are already satisfied with this and dont feel a need to go in a thread to bitch about it, I am just in this thread to kill time. Complainers always stand out.

Lol, u mad.

I didn't say I wasn't buying it. I didn't say I haven't enjoyed the APOM. I'm buying it the day it comes out. And it costs more than $10, so I don't know what dvd you're buying. I said there's allegedly film reels around some place of a show(s) according to people. You don't know what's around for a fact either.

So save your anger for people who think they should have made a blu-ray from a tape.

All fan fanatic discussion put aside - This is a great quality for a 24 years old VHS!

I am going to enjoy this DVD very much. - Noone can take that away from me!

Audio is Perfect - and Quality is damn good too!

Let's just enjoy the magic!!

I'm gonna stop watching APOM other wise I'm just gonna end up skipping it when watching the final DVD

But you're only cleaning up a compressed Web rip, not the restored DVD vob file.
Tit!

Maybe it's just because we are not watching it on the same screen, but to me his skin tone looked more natural before.

Okay this is my final comparison.

The Another Part Of Me Amazon clip is on the left, the original trailer is on the right. What looks better to you? Personally the one on the right looks a little better to me. His skin tone looks more natural and the image doesn't look as 'cartoonish' as the other. What do you think??

I'm kinda worried about the video that MichaelJackson.com mailed to me, they said it's APOM from the Wembley DVD, but the quality is much much worse than the Amazon UK video. The videolink they mailed is from Amazon US.

Your version is clearly better. I'm puzzled why the official version is poorer.

Don't worry dude. The vid on amazon france sucks aswell apparently, the TV spot is closest to final quality according to a Mr.Selznick who attended the band screening. :)

don't worry Amazon UK linked direct to Sony servers, Amazon US seems to took the video and uploaded to their own servers - meaning probably compressed it in the process.

To give an idea original UK stream file is over 100 MB, Amazon US version is 20 MB.

FYI, there was a fan petition for the second leg to be released(Wembley to be exact) which is exactly what we wanted, or the major majority of us wanted. The estate was obviously listening.

I am super excited about this release. The quality is amazing for a 25 year old VHS. And common sense would tell you if the estate had their hands on the film master they would have used it! It is nonsensical to believe otherwise.

From what I have read a whole lot of us if not all are incredibly excited about this release, except for a few that always want to TRY to spoil our excitement. But, you know what, complainers are not going to succeed. Nothing could get us down. This is epic!

I am very, very grateful to the estate for their efforts to bring us the best concert tour from the greatest entertainer of all time. :clapping:
:wild:

To all those losing hope of a blu-ray sourced from the film reels ever showing up, I'll share a brief story.

In 1953 when Elvis Presley was just an 18 year old truck driver, he made a trip to Memphis Recording Services (now known as Sun Studio) to record a demonstration record to see how his voice sounded. It was recorded straight to acetate (I think it cost him $4) and he performed 2 songs solely accompanied by his acoustic guitar. The songs were "My Happiness" and "That's When Your Heartaches Begin." He then took home the only copy. It wouldn't be until a year later when he would return to the studio to record some demo's, but this time at the request of the owner Sam Phillips. That session would yield the recording that set Elvis on his road to stardom, "That's All Right".

But what of the acetate of his first ever studio recording? It was thought to be lost forever. There was no hope among fans that it even existed anymore, let alone hope of them hearing it one day. Well it turned out that in 1953, Elvis took the acetate to a classmates house to play it for him and left it there. When the classmate told him he left the record there, Elvis told him to "keep it." So he did. For 35 years! It was not until 1988 when Elvis historian and head of Elvis releases for RCA Ernst Jorgensen got wind of the fact that this person was in possession of this historic recording (I believe the person or someone related called the record company). So Ernst followed up the lead, went to the mans house who put on the record and sure enough, it was a scratchy recording of Elvis, accompanied by guitar singing "My Happiness". It was released in 1990.

So that just goes to show you, there is always hope.

Why some fans always complain so much? Why is it always so hard to please everyone? From what we have seen so far, obviously going to be great. We will not be concerned if we have not got the dvd with the complete show on our hands to say anything. :bugeyed After we watch the complete show we can say something. -_- In the end, I'm sure everyone will be happy and very excited. ;) :woohoo:
