Honestly, it was barely hyped up. Hyping it up would be posting teasers about it in the days leading up to the announcements, like other artists do. Not sending out an email to a handful of fansites on the downlow (not even MJJC mind you), then posting a single image on Facebook. We know other, more 'mature' projects are in the pipeline so there's hardly reason to be that disappointed, if at all. Going off Landis' comments, we're going to see an announcement for the Thriller 2017 project sooner rather than later anyway.
EDIT: Also do yourselves a favour and don't bother reading the Facebook comments. Some people...
Now, I admit, I was expecting the Thriller 2017 project so I was a bit "oh..." when I opened Facebook this morning, but I remembered right after it was still coming anyway so ya know, whatever. I like they're trying new(ish) angles to gain a new audience of fans.
There's a show on Netflix called
The Beat Bugs, which is apparently rather popular with young kids. It's a show based on the music of The Beatles, often the cast and celebrities come in to sing covers of The Beatles songs, and from what I've read on various social media, many parents have said it's a great way to introduce young children to The Beatles music. This too seems like a great opportunity to introduce young kids to the music of Michael Jackson. It's obviously not targeted at me, but sure I'll check it out. Here's hoping it's great for all ages, like a classic Pixar film!
