Michael Jackson Scream - The Album

Re: #MJScream - Coming 29th September.

I can't believe you guys are getting excited over the Estate releasing an album full of songs that are in some cases more than 30 years old and we've all heard them before. If this is what they're releasing, they've done nothing to deserve your money or praise.

Exactly .. I'm not buying anything for one lousy 'megamix'. I'm sure the kids this release is aimed at will enjoy it. But for long time fans I don't really see what this release gives.

Re: #MJScream - Coming 29th September.

For the collectors: I can tell you that there will be both Vinyl and "Glow In The Dark" editions.

Tracklist:
1. This Place Hotel
2. Thriller
3. Blood On The Dance Floor
4. Somebody's Watching Me
5. Dirty Diana
6. Torture
7. Leave Me Alone
8. Scream
9. Dangerous
10. Unbreakable
11. Xscape
12. Threatened
13. Ghosts
14. Megamix

Pathetic tracklist.

Totally agree. Just another project to make money with Mike's legacy.

Here is the thing. They aren't trying to appeal to the long term fans because most of them always moan. They are trying to appeal to the younger generation in order to attract new fans and I don't blame them.

lol if this is the tracklist this is the worst product yet! Not even one new track to get fans interested?

Re: #MJScream - Coming 29th September.

Unless Korgnex provides some proof, I'm gonna go ahead and call that track list fake.

Re: #MJScream - Coming 29th September.

The trailer makes it look like a pointless album of remixes, with nothing new at all. If that's the case, then I'll pass.

#MJScream - Coming 29th September.

Wow, if true, the estate simply failed again. But if this release will be accompanied with a (4K) bluray of the short films, then I'll be interested.

Surely it would be a waste not to have "Is It Scary" on the album

Re: #MJScream - Coming 29th September.

You don't say? Record labels and Estates wanting to make money - unheard of!
Because MJ himself didn't want to make money with his music?
Some of you act like the music business should be run by communist principles.

You honestly think that the Estate couldn't have come with another project??? IF you think that, you need to get your shit together. The Estate proved us too many times that they know how to do things. No Dangerous 25, no Slave To The Rhythm release or promotion when the general public was excited when they saw the hologram performance, poor XSCAPE promotion. Do I need to count more?

The point is they are coming up with projects, which seems like they are set up to generate more money. They should have given us Dangerous 25! EVERYONE was screaming for that. EVERYONE. This new Scream project is a little bit tasteless to me if this is a new remix album with old songs re-released. Of course I hope that the newer generations is going to like it, but in my eyes this is just another dumb way to make money.

So calm your tits and sit your ass down. Nobody said that MJ didn't make music for money.

Re: #MJScream - Coming 29th September.

I am so looking forward to these new projects!

Halloween was Michael's favourite time of the year and for Michael to hopefully be playing new *old* songs to radio is great!

Thriller 3d , Ghosts , etc great projects!

How dare you bring common sense into this conversation Respect!!! But honestly, why are people shocked by his Estate and record label trying to make money off him? His music is quite literally a business. Michael Jackson didn't give his music away for free! I hope they always take into consideration his artistry and introducing his legacy to more people, but of course they're always going to intend to make money.

If this isn't remixes and simply a compilation album of the studio versions, I'm not going to really care about the album. It's not a big deal because not every release is going to be aimed at the hardcore fan such as myself.

If it's the soundtrack to the new Halloween childrens film, then I think it'll be a good companion. It'll be one album, one place where everyone new to Michael Jackson can look to see all the included songs on it! It'll make it very easy to find on Spotify, Apple Music, what have you. Much easier than searching up all the different songs on their own! (especially if they don't know the name of it).

EDIT: Also to just add, I would definitely be against a general greatest hits album. We already have so many and I don't want to see another one for a good decade or two. A themed one is fine in collaboration with another type of project, especially if it gives exposure to little known songs and the Estate don't keep resorting to this kind of thing.

Re: #MJScream - Coming 29th September.

This is not necessarily aimed at hard core fans who already have everything (though if these are remixes they could be interesting for hard core fans too) but possibly will serve as a soundtrack album for the Halloween animated movie, that again is aimed more at casual fans. I think if this will do some things for people to discover more of MJ's "scary" songs beyond Thriller it can be a good project.

Totally agree. Looks like its all part of the promo for the halloween movie. To attract more non and casual fans. Hardcore fans will always excist (until we all pegg it ) so in continuing mjs legacy its about attracting new ones and promoting as many songs as possible. In that sense this should work well.

As a hardcore am i intrested in this release? No not really as its not aimed at me but i can see that this is about the long term which is what matters.we will always be here regardless

Re: #MJScream - Coming 29th September.

trying to appeal to the younger generation in order to attract new fans and I don't blame them.

And they will, I am particularly looking forward to seeing exactly how they will market this to the kids.

Re: #MJScream - Coming 29th September.

The thing is in truth it is the hard core fans that are still interested and well for the new fans...........to me it seens to me they somewhat dont have the "care factor" like us hardcore fans do

Re: #MJScream - Coming 29th September.

To me, the idea of releasing a Halloween-themed album is just GREAT. Has it ever been done before? Michael always did something new and unexpected. And this is new and unexpected!

(And the album will be played EVERY YEAR on halloween! What better way to promote Michael and, yes, to make money?)

And I agree, it's a great way to get casual fans interested. If the tracklist is legit and songs like Threatened are featured on the album.. no casual fan has heard of Threatened before! It's not always about us hardcore fans.. of course we want our share of things and Xscape/BAD25 etc was great! But they also have to keep in mind all the casual, only mildly interested people who might become fans! Because this will secure Michael's legacy. And yes, they make money. Because that's their job, basically.

But they buy his music and get him in the charts! Why is thriller in the charts every halloween? Not because hardcore fans are buying the song.

It's a totally different thing with understanding him as a person. But for keeping on his legacy as a professional entertainer, we need the casual fans. Because there will always be new generations who are fascinated by his music and will eventually buy it.

Re: #MJScream - Coming 29th September.

If Is It Scary is not on the track-list for a Halloween themed album I will be very disappointed...

Is It Scary is one of my all time favorite songs...

Re: #MJScream - Coming 29th September.

BREAKING NEWS -ALERT-...

The track list is officially on Amazon.co.uk . If you search Michael Jackson into the search and then change the search settings to "Newly listed" you'll find "Scream" and it's tracklisting. If I'm honest, it's a bit mundane and a lot of people are going to be disappointed. Only one new track and it's a mega mix type deal.

Re: #MJScream - Coming 29th September.

From a business point of view, releasing a greatest hits album of horror themed songs is a great idea. During Halloween time, Thriller always does really well in the charts, so an entire album filled with horror themed tracks should be a great seller. Especially during Halloween time.

And maybe this means some people will start playing MJ's other horror themed songs that aren't Thriller during Halloween. It would be awesome to be at a Halloween party and have Threatened come on

Re: #MJScream - Coming 29th September.

I am hoping for a few new songs, even though it seems unlikely. If it is a tie in to the Halloween special, then I shall probably get it; I can play it every Halloween, rather than making a playlist (because I am lazy.)

I'm hoping we learn more soon though.

Re: #MJScream - Coming 29th September.

Another compilation with already released songs... no thanks.... $ony...

i think it is the hardcore fans buying them though and not the new new fans cuz really if sony and mj estate really want to show they care bout us hardcore fans THEY NEED TO RELEASE WHAT WE WANT TO HEAR!

Re: #MJScream - Coming 29th September.

megamix might be cool I guess but this one isn't for us I don't think. MJ Estate will be bound to release projects not aimed at the hardcore fans

Re: #MJScream - Coming 29th September.

Halloween album!? Fantastic idea! I've been waiting for this for decades.

Ignore the moaners.

Not getting any new songs. Branca has confirmed multiple times this year there will be no new unreleased songs for the next few years.

Why would fans keep rebuying an album they already have...? It's a combination of mostly casuals buying it on iTunes and streaming it on YouTube/Spotify/AM what-not.

A lot of the products the Estate have done have been aimed at hardcore fans anyway. In fact I'd argue most of the Estate's products so far have, as almost all have all offered new unreleased material in one way or another - something valuable to hardcore fans.

Given that only 4 of the likely tracks are 'original', that means new fans will probably go and buy many of the remaining original tracks, either alone or as part of the original release albums....Which must be great for MJ.

Plus, if this is meant to be a party / dance album, 'Scared of the Moon' needs a more upbeat mix track, or everyone will leave the dancefloor! (Though for me the whole point of 'Scared of the moon' is that it is so atmospheric).

I wonder if the 'MJ Halloween Megamix' is the music for the trailer?

Re: #MJScream - Coming 29th September.

i think both posted tracklist are fakes. cause from trailer we know that some tracks must be included, otherwise musical content of teaser makes no sense

Some fans are still spelling Sony as $ony? This always came across as really childish to me, and it got old years ago

Re: #MJScream - Coming 29th September.

There is still speculation as to whether this is a new album with new tracks on it. Although I would love that, especially after Xscape, which was fantastic (in my opinion), I don't think that would be the case. If this was a new album with new music, I don't think they would use previously released music to promote it. They didn't use songs like 'Billie Jean', 'Smooth Criminal', 'Bad' (you get the picture) to promote Michael or Xscape, they used the new music that was actually on the album. I think there is definitely a possibility that new songs could appear but only a couple, if any. This is with out a doubt a compilation album, if there was another song entitled 'Scream' they'd change the name to not confuse new fans. I think if there are new tracks, it would be a Number Ones or This Is It kind of album where the whole album is filled previous tracks and only one new song (in the Number Ones' case it was 'One More Chance' and in This Is It's case it was 'This Is It').
