What's Your Favorite Video(s) Of The Day?

Very cute. Mature Michael goes shopping. Best part is approx 10s - 18s. After that it's lots of shots of the back of other people and the occasional glimpse of Michael.

Sorry it is not MJ but this James Brown performance is possessed. What a ride, listen to the crowd going nuts. I feel like I can take on Mike Tyson after this. If I was captain of a football team this is the stuff I’d play in the dressingroom to get the adrenaline flowing. The hairs on my arm were pointing at the sky and my jaw is currently missing this was Spectacular!

Er, in which alternative universe do you post something as awesome as this and then apologise? Are you crazy? Don't answer that, lol.

I loved this so much. I've seen a fragment of it but never the entire thing. It's freakin' off the chart.

The funny thing about James Brown is, he's such an unlikely star, in many ways. Obviously, as a singer and musician he is way above the competition. But he isn't particularly beautiful - unlike Michael who is gorgeous. James doesn't have a dancer's physique - Michael has a perfect dancer's body with the most beautiful body lines. In fact, James' body, for a dancer, is kind of all wrong. But, omg, he's so good. And he is such a showman. No wonder little Michael was glued to the side of the stage, watching his every move. James' timing is really something.

Thank you so much for posting this.

edit. I had a lovely vid here of Wilson Pickett performing but it won’t allow me to post it

Was it a YT video? Can you just give us the song (and name of tv prog, if relevant) and the YT channel name? I don't mind going and looking for it. I'm intrigued now. And I love Wilson Pickett's voice so I'm happy to go and search for it.

There's a great live version of this from Wattsstax but decided to go for Soul Train instead. Papa Staples. Mavis Staples. Love it.

Wilson Pickett / In The Midnight Hour

No idea where this is from. It's not TOTP and it's not Ready Steady Go. Whatever. It's brilliant, I love it and it never gets old.

Another day, another try. The same Pickett video I wanted to post yesterday. I particularly love the crowd, they're both in awe of what's going on and dancing and jumping. I love when a few fans come on stage in the end to dance. The cops in the crowd have absolutely no control of the happenings, concerts back then always seemed a lot more chaotic and fun.

Yesterday I watched this 5 times back-to-back. I've been in recovery ever since.

Well, they're Ghanaians and it's an Independence Day celebration concert so extra energy, extra joy. I love the stage diving and stage invasions. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I thought punks invented all of that but it's funny seeing it so many years earlier. Awesome!

The first time I watched this I had to go and have a little cry. Then I watched it 5x in a row. And I just keep on watching. Later on, he does In The Midnight Hour but the footage is on a different YT channel and the quality is crap. So annoying.

I don't know how you found this, f&m, but I'm glad you did. Wilson is *bringing* it, goddammit!

If you are somewhere on the ground unable to move, please try to call 911

I didn’t find the footage, the footage found me, I have about 5 full James Brown concerts to watch too. Youtube keeps me entertained for many hours.

Oh look! A miraculous recovery, lol. Cos you mentioned James Brown on YT. Could you let me know which shows? Are any from the UK? Any from the early 70's? I have looked myself and can't find anything. I can find some photos and some audio. I found some tv appearances. I even found some where he was wearing the outfit he wore at the gig I went to. Great. But no gig stuff. I understand why, of course. The only way people could get their cassette recorders - never mind film cameras - into gigs back then was to stick them down their pants. The bouncers weren't allowed to go there, lol. But most people didn't wanna do that so there isn't much stuff around. But I keep hoping there might be something.

Perhaps there just isn't any in which case, sucks to be me. But searching YT is not my superpower. In fact, like you, when I find stuff it's often cos it just pops up rather than me having ace skills.

I saw James in 1973. I'd love to see something from that period. I did find a few bits, as I said, but nothing solid.

@zinniabooklover

I will send you the links in pm. I haven’t watched any of them yet so I don’t know if the quality is good or if they are in full or not.
The earliest one is in Paris 1968, then it is one from 1981, 1991 LA, 1999 Woodstock and 2000 Pittsburgh. All our minimum 1 hour so it looks like they’re full gigs.

I will keep you in mind when I find good stuff out there.

Not sure my PM is working. But give it a go and let's see. If you find any early 70's stuff that'd be my jam.

@zinniabooklover

Since I am not allowed to pm you I have to post it here.

If you’re interested I also have a 1965 tv show performance of Chuck Berry in Belgium in my favorites, it is about 30min long great entertainment!
My absolute fave is the 14 min video of Jackie Wilson performing in 1973 I wish it was in full but I believe I have already gave you this link before. Thats singing is so good, I’ll be damned if Michael didn’t base his hee hee‘s on what Jackie does.

This is the outfit he wore at the gig I went to. Plus, ace 1973 version of 'Think'.

Yeah, I think you already posted the Jackie Wilson thing. I'll check but I think I saw it the other day when I was checking through all of my bookmarks. I need to watch that again.

Cheers for the JB stuff. I'll work my way through that. I'll leave Chuck Berry for now. I've got BWT 1987 still on the go, Triumph, J5 bits and bobs. And, of course, there is Wilson. My man, Wilson. Can't get enough of him, atm. You have no idea.

Then there's all this JB stuff. Cooler than cool.

@zinniabooklover

Is that a blue costume you saw in your show? I came across an image of the exact same costume than the one in that picture of the think performance but it is in blue during a concert in Switzerland 1973.

No, he wore green. Sort of apple green colour. In fact, I'm not 100% sure that's the same costume. It felt like instant recognition when I saw it but, then again, don't remember it being quite that low cut. Maybe he had a version which was slightly higher cut. But, as far as I can remember, that's the outfit I saw.

Lyn Collins was dressed in black. The JB's were dressed in red. James in green.

And I still say, when he came out on stage and just stood there and looked at us, that is the coolest thing I've ever seen at a gig.

James Brown

@filmandmusic

Just bookmarked me a whole load of JB stuff from 1973. Including this little thing. It's not a video but it made sense, imo, to put it over here. It's only 59 seconds.

I wasn’t aware Pepsi was doing this long before MJ

PS @zinniabooklover Michael used to perform JB’s song “ there was a time” live in the first national tour. Including the dance breaks JB did. We just want to see that right?!
There’s a clip of it out there on youtube. This is good and it is live, they’re playing this tight! MJ’s JB impressions already very good at age 12. Note also the multiple spin he did.

Ngl, wasn't looking forward to this. Not mad keen on their version of Papa Was A Rollin' Stone. O me of little faith! This was awesome. I just posted the vid over on your dance moves thread. This needs maximum visibility.

Not gonna say any more. There's nothing more I can say! But thanks for posting. Wonderful.

OMG I am in tears! This is the best thing I've seen in awhile. That sweet little baby just bursted with joy right after he started singing! The giggle throughout just sends me. I could not possibly love this more.

PS: Sometimes, this is straight up my exact reaction to watching Michael. I just laugh like a literal child because I don't know what else to do lol.

It is so cute. I found it on an old thread. There's one more bit you might be interested in. Not sure if it's YT so don't know if I can post it. Was trying to avoid bumping an old thread. Too much drama, lol.

I love it so much. I wonder if she is prepared to fall in love with him when she hits puberty haha.

Share away! I love stuff like this. Also lol at bumping old threads! I say do it. This forum is an invaluable resource. No reason to shy away stuff just because it's old. Though I get not wanting to lol.
