I admire your application. Clearly you'd need that level of determination and focus to be any good in your chosen field but I'm still impressed. I still say you're doing it so we don't have to, lol.

I am surprised. Seems obvious to me. I'm guessing it's a way for you to boost your CV. More importantly, it gives you a chance to find out what's really involved, whether you def want to do this, to network and build contacts, to get useful advice and inside info especially re the realities of this path you're on, learn how to cope with the grossness of it all, learning to pace yourself.

I could go on but I won't since you already know all of this. I'm just surprised that people are confused about what you're doing. Sounds like really hard work, especially on top of your paid work, but it does make sense.
