It is known that Michael and Roger have worked together on 2 songs, Al Capone and Tomboy. Despite both songs didn't make it (officially) onto an album, both artists have thanked each on their own albums.

Now that we know that Tomboy was released in someway on the Zapp V album as "Stop That" (without giving any credits to MJ), I'm wondering if there was a contractual issue that prevented an official collabration between both artists.

This raises the question if Rogers contribution on AC could have led to SC? Maybe elements of his (uncredited) work are present on the Bad album, especially if considering that engineers who worked on SC refer to AC as an early version of SC.🤔

Was this proven or confirmed? I thought it was just speculation.

Just speculation about "Stop That".

As for contractual issues, maybe, but I doubt it. I think Tomboy was never going to make the BAD album so it was just given away. But did MJ put vocals on Tomboy?

Tomboy is vocally complete and is ready for release if it were too

Not confirmed yet. But it's obvious Stop That is connected with Tomboy.

Damien has heard an instrumental version of Tomboy at the us copyright office. The song on the Zapp album matches Damiens description.

In addition, Matt Forger said, Michael handed over the multitracks to Roger. Fainted hee-hees of MJ on the Zapp song pretty much strengthens the theory of ST being build upon Tonboy.

Honestly Tomboy sounds like it could've been a massive hit if it was released, imagine if they included on Bad 25

I'm aware of all of that, but it could simply be a coincidence or it could be that it's another song that was sourced from Tomboy or it could also be that the song still remains unreleased to this day. That can't be taken for granted until there's official confirmation.

I think it's a bit unlikely because Joe Vogel mentioned that the song wasn't worked on after 1985 and that's when the song was registered. Unless MJ recorded the vocals in 1985 still or if he only registered the instrumental.

John Barnes said Roger worked with them on early Bad songs and mentioned Al Capone and Tomboy. He said his contributions weren't kept but they sounded great

There's an unreleased MJ track from 1980 called "Somewhere In Time". And yes, a movie was released in 1980 with the same title.

If these were unused movie tracks, then it means that MJ was trying to get into movie soundtracks (with or without the request of Quincy) as early as 1980.
 
Let's say Somewhere In Time was made for the movie, MJ seemed to be quick to record vocals for movie soundtracks since The Toy, the Peter Pan soundtrack songs (allegedly) were already recorded before they were scrapped. What if Somewhere In Time has vocals as well?

This is a Roger Troutman/Gap band song call stop that,,,it apparently is a recycled version of tomboy....it was never confirmed.....coincidently i played this song on my radio show this week, i just happened to be listening to it recently ...im a fan of the gap band. If it's true it would be great to hear Tomboy.

I hear the ”I bet ya’ remember” line in “Stop That” in the guitar part. And I hear MJ adlibs buried in the audio around the 1-minute mark.
 
Zapp Stop That, is a really cool song. It'd be interesting if it originated from MJ's demo for Tomboy.

Stop That reminds me an Inxs song called Who Pays The Price, released in 1990.

Just checking: It’s a Zapp, not Gap Band song, right? I can’t remember hearing any Gap Band tune with that title.
