Years ago before the Conrad Murray trial Sony submitted documentation that they are planning to release an anniversary edition of the This Is It movie in the future. There are many songs that MJ rehearsed but have not been seen. Do you think this will happen for the 10th anniversary of the films release?

Maybe. They should. Michael's vocals on the songs are really great (not counting the parts were he lip syncs), and it was really unnecessary to put out the studio versions out instead of the rehearsal-versions on the soundtrack album.

Agreed. All it was, was a greatest hits package with bonus unreleased material with it. Do what I did, download the rehearsal versions and make your own This Is It soundtrack with those versions. :)

Great Thread !
I'm not sure they will to be honest. Mainly because of the things that came out of both trials. (Michael not being well and so on) if it happens I think it will be a low key anniversary edition, not much promotion or publicity. I just don't know how much sellable material is left. As a greedy fan I would love to see everything, but I doubt there is much more left that is at the same quality as the movie, and I don't think they would put anything out at less quality than that.

We actually got a 10th anniversary limited edition - there were plans for more but this was effected by LN.

I bought the TII box set, and it’s honestly a fantastic and well-designed project. Could’ve used bonus features of course, and horrifically overpriced, but as far as packaging execution it’s on par with Bad 25 as their high point.

A reasonable price could have been put on the 10th this is it box set for everyone to have of what shameful

Ok but what's the new new? If they don't include extra footage it's basically $100 for a pretty box imo.

And you want this over new concerts?

Actually over $500 after shipping lol. It was an impulse purchase after a work bonus, what can I say?

I wouldn’t call it a bad project. The actual content is well executed, especially the ticket, and the design and packaging is excellent. It’s just a wasted opportunity given the lack of new footage and high price point. 5/10 for me—not as bad as Off the Wall, not as good as Bad 25.

And honestly? I walk away from this box set saying, “At least I got a nice vinyl and a cool piece of memorabilia.” I walk away from a concert saying, “That was the same as Yokohama/Wembley in almost every aspect.” Not saying it’s better, but I find it has more value.

And honestly, I find more value in a piece of memorabilia than in a concert that’s no different from the dozens on YouTube. It’s not better, but I find them equally disinteresting at the end of the day.
You're just making me cringe worse, ngl. But I guess I just ain't got it like that, that's all

It's a cool box set. It's got great sentimentality, I'll agree with that.

Imagine considering a record cut from overcompressed digital masters "cool vinyl". So cringe.

"Jokes" aside, the insane price of the box is in no way explainable.
