A.I Michael - opinions

My top 3 AI MJ covers of the last few days:

MJ AI covers Eye of the Tiger - this may not sound very fitting at first glance, but it's quite convincing when you listen to it! The second note is terribly off and there are a few other minor misfires in between, but overall it sounds relatively genuine - reminds me of a rocky outtake from Victory Album!

MJ AI sings a classic by Marvin Gaye - even if the voice still sounds a bit robotic - the vocal layers and the overall very organic instrumental sound make the song enjoyable again as a whole. The original song is a bit repetitive for me - but it convinces with a relaxed basic vibe.

This cover of a song by Laura Pausini shows that MJ AI models can also sound good with original female vocals. I can't judge to what extent the Italian accent is appropriate, but melodiously as well as vocally the song sounds very nice, except for minor vocal drop-outs.

I love how ‘Black Widow’ in AI still sounds NOTHING like Michael 😂 just sounds like Malachi’s impression improved about 0.2%

This song has a "2005-2008" vibe

The result was good!
The same channel did it with Cascio's songs, but the result is not the best!

Someone needs to do Ne-Yo songs with the MJ AI. I'd actually perhaps play those if done well

Bonus: Or do Troop - Thizzle

They're mainly mad because this sounds just like them. AI will completely cannibalize what current music is doing and is totally capable of recreating your average artist 99.8% of the way.
im sorry but what they are doing is like if paint companies tried to stop digital art from existing.

people are still going to listen to the next drake album, ai is just a fun tool. on top of that, it could be used to do duets with younger versions of themselves, like imagine a duet between modern eminem and 2001 eminem (even if "Jimmy, Brian and Mike" exists), that'd be insane.

I think it's fine if it's just a few people on a forum are doing it for fun (I personally hate it and wish it wasn't a thing but that's not the point), that's not really what universal are talking about though. One it becomes a massive thing it does start to become problematic imo.

surely there's a difference between artists making digital art themselves and somebody using a voice that isn't theirs to make an A.I. song no? especially since they released it on streaming

This new repo is appearently better then sovits. Less training time/datasets (10 minutes!). Cant wait to test it out.

Terrible analogy mate. I can understand where you're coming from; digital art is human-created art with the aid of the machine. But AI being used in the way it has been used for the Drake-Weeknd abomination is no-doubt fraudulent.

Replacing LaToya's voice with MJ for fun is a very different can of worms to making money out of someone else's voice without their permission. Personally, I can see Cascio-track levels of fraud occuring in the near future, but on a very large scale.

[...] ai is just a fun tool [...]
AGI worries me more than AI but AI is still problematic. Right now it's like a toy that people are playing with. I doubt it'll stay that way. Faulty design, wonky data being used, that's just for starters. Even apart from the ethical issues.

I think it's inevitable. :(

Fun!

But this beat is 100% NOT one of the songs Michael worked on with Will.I.Am. It was used on Macy Gray's album in 2007:

There's only one song featured in the Access Hollywood interview that hasn't been released. It's the one Will says has "Off the Wall kind-of strings." It's quite likely that it ended up being one of the MJ songs, IMO.

Yeah, will.i.am also used the beat for I Got It From My Mama:

I believe that the third song will.i.am played was The Future, he said that the song was like a "contemporary Off The Wall" with a latin beat which matches what he said/showed on the interview.

We only need to worry about AI when the greedy corporations start getting their hands on it. And when they try applying it to posthumous work, which we all know they're willing to do. And even when some of that doesn't offend me, I don't like how quick they are to try it.

Now I want to hear the Will tracks even more lol. On a side note, for anyone wanting to test this out can now upload vocals to this site.
