The Discussion of MJ's Unreleased Tracks

There is a 1080p version that I believe was broadcast on a foreign TV station around the time of MJ’s death.
Japanese WOWOW channel? I think I've seen some folk saying it's not really that great.

Admittedly I haven’t seen it in years, but my recollection is that it’s a great watch. Then again, that might’ve been the 2009-10, pre-4K and OLED perspective.

What the heck are you even talking about?

It’s not hard to understand what I said, bruv. A Michael Jackson soundalike, such as Jason Malachi, being used for singing parts of the film (kinda like how Marc Matel did in the Queen biopic), is not out of the realm of possibility

I think it absolutely is. Setting aside the MICHAEL controversy, there’s no reason to not use source recordings of MJ’s actual voice. Worst case scenario, just use an alternate take to add a little bit of differentiation.

If they INSIST on having songs where MJ vocals don’t exist, like when Freddie sang “Happy Birthday” to himself in Bohemian Rhapsody, Jaafar’s voice is close enough.

If they went the sound alike route, it would depend on how it’s used. I guess I’m not against it so long as it is used sparingly and only where absolutely necessary.

That's what Jaafar is for.

I'm pretty sure most of the vocals in Bohemian Rhapsody weren't Freddie. So I would expect the same for this film.
Yeah, a big chunk of it is Marc. However, they used his voice mostly for singing in casual situations e.g. at his birthday, singing Happy Birthday, or when introducing himself and singing for Brian and Roger for the first time.

Every actual on-stage performance in the film is actually Freddie singing. From Keep Yourself Alive until Live Aid.

Yessir, most of it from previously released material as well (Rainbow 74, Hammersmith 75 etc).
Yup. What I find interesting is that when they were filming the Live Aid scenes for example, they actually did use a recording of Marc Martel, which could be seen on some of the amateur footage which leaked in 2017 of them filming that scene, to which Rami Malek lip-synched.

That is why they had to splice up the original audio in the film, for it to match what Rami was singing (e.g. the line “life had just begun”). It seems that they initially intended to use Marc Martel for the live performances as well, but decided against it later on.

Well we don’t have much previously released concert material so I hope they either re do the mixes (not likely) or release new concert songs like July 15th (not likely either)
