MADONNA PAYS HOMAGE TO MJ - CELEBRATION TOUR 2023

Very well done!
We know from Madonna that they kissed... but Michael wasn't that impressed
watching the homage with Billie Jean, I can't help but think:
Madonna is not my lover
She's just a girl who claims that I am the one

Madonna makes me smile ~i just want 2 buy her a drink :ROFLMAO:

She really misses m, poor lady.
She luvs him just like us lot

Madonna was my girl "lol" in my teens! She looked sexy and was very raunchy. She always pioneered looks, music and videos just like Michael. I missed her on her other tours but this one I really could not. So happy she pays respect and homage to Michael. This is going to be a very emotional night at the o2 on 4th December I carnt wait.

That from her British Vogue interview asked abut the LN-docu

“I don’t have a lynch-mob mentality, so in my mind, people are innocent until proven guilty,” she said in the interview, excerpts of which were published Tuesday in The Independent. “I’ve had a thousand accusations hurled at me that are not true. So my attitude when people tell me things about people is, ‘Can you prove it?’”

When asked about what she would interpret as proof of Jackson’s guilt, Madonna replied, “I don’t know, I haven’t seen the film. But I guess it would be people recounting actual events ― but then, of course, people sometimes lie.”
“So I always say, ‘What’s the agenda? What do people want out of this? Are there people asking for money, is there some kind of extortion thing happening?’” she added. “I would take all of those things into consideration.”

Diana Ross will be playing in Belgium the 17th, hopefully she gives a little shout out to, doesn’t have to be this extensive but thanks you madonna

Maybe, but the Madonna thing had a context. I'm assuming she did it bc she was playing the 02. I'm not expecting her to do the tribute for the rest of the tour. Be interesting to see if she does but I doubt it.

Madonna just launched her new “Celebration” Tour which started last night in London.
During her impressive celebration of 4 decades of career, the Queen of Pop paid tribute to Michael Jackson mixing “Billie Jean” with “Like A Prayer”.

Both artists were represented on stage by their shadows, dancing together, with pictures of the Pop Royal couple on the sides.
For fans of Michael Jackson present in the audience, it was an emotional and amazing tribute ended by a written note “Never Can Say Goodbye”.

Since Michael has left us, Madonna has been a true supporter, paying numerous tributes to the King of Pop during concerts and award shows, she often posted videos and photos reminding the world of the King, she also supported Michael during the “Leaving Neverland” drama.

Madonna pays touching tribute to Michael Jackson as she kicks off Celebration tour in London with emotional 'never can say goodbye' message to the late singer

Two silhouette's, appearing to be Madonna and MJ, popped on the screen and began dancing together to a BillieJean/LikeAVirgin mashup. They then shared a sweet embrace while the message 'Never Can Say Goodbye' is shown on the screen.

I hope Michael saw this tribute in spirit and forgives Madonna for her immature attitude in the past.

So, MJ spoke 'negatively' of her. But that doesn't stop her.

I remember after his death, she would show many pics of MJ, despite his words about her. I don't follow what else she's done. She goes where the attention is. I have always interpreted her 'support' of MJ a calculated strategy to win her more fans and attention, and (like most in the spotlight), she wants massive attention! She gets it by 'supporting' MJ.

Then again, maybe she really is sincere.
Maybe she really does care about him? I don't know for sure.
I tend to think she just wants those MJ fans to attach to her, to love her, to support her. Like so many others on the stage craving attention.

This was in 1991, he met the Chandler's the following year. Meaning if he was with Madonna instead even just for 2 years, it never happens. Should he have bit the bullet and tried to make it work?

How ironic that this concert was at the O2 in London? The same arena where This Is It was supposed to happen!

It's extremely unlikely, imo, that Madonna supports Michael in the way that she does in order to get attention. She's the biggest selling female solo artist (or so we are constantly told - I haven't researched this bc I don't really care). Madonna does not need to mention Michael in order to get attention. All she has to do is get up every morning and the media are writing about her. She doesn't need to mention Michael in order to get more fans.

Madonna doesn't 'go where the attention is'. She gets attention constantly just by being herself. Supporting Michael in the way she does, I would say she has more to lose than to gain but she does it anyway.

Then again, maybe she really is sincere.
I'm not a fan of Madonna as an artist - although I love her as herself, she's fascinating - but I can't see why she would do this if she wasn't sincere.

Maybe she really does care about him? I don't know for sure.
Exactly. We can't know for sure but, if I was a gambling person, I would put money on her doing this bc she wants to support Michael and not bc she's desperately trying to get more attention or gain new fans. She's built a massively successful career and kept it going for decades. She doesn't need to do stuff like this to try to boost her career.

I tend to think she just wants those MJ fans to attach to her, to love her, to support her. Like so many others on the stage craving attention.
We'll have to agree to disagree on this. I just don't see it.

The mash up thing has been known in the madonna forums for quite a while, it was one of the first actual spoilers of the new tour we got way before she had the health issues and had to pause all rehearsals. We thought it was a recreation of what she did on the virgin tour and the instrumentatiom she used in the vmas [when she kissed britney] that was the billie jean drum.

The interlude is expected to remain there for the whole extension of the tour as it serves to introduce the final segment of the show.

There are also shout outs to Prince and others along the show, but the MJ thing, being Madonna, is sure thing to have a clear intention to recognise him as a Mentor and a Fellow Pop Monarchy member. It is touching and sincere. It really left me a little sad though.

That was the Like A Prayer guitar solo, was it?

I only saw it on video but I love it. It's been crafted with such love and care, imo. It's fun, energetic but emotional as well. Great idea and beautifully executed.

It really left me a little sad though.
