For real, why?

- they did very questionable releases (Michael Album, This Is It 10th, OTW Chalk)
- they tell us they really care for us but at the same time they lie to us about statements they did.
- they ask us to defend MJ and as a thanks they give us nothing but merch which is very much overpriced!
- it’s still in question if MJ really wished J. Branca to be part of the MJ Estate.
- they say they care for MJs Legacy but in terms of concert-releases (which is a big part of it) they did close to none.
- they put off the wall era tracks on thriller40 claiming these are thriller outtakes.
- the list is too long to put here..

And yes, I’m seriously opening a thread about it!

What the estate would look like if it were run by fans
  1. The Trial by Media / Square One documentaries being broadcasted on TV to expose the lies and end the heinous accusations
  2. Sales being certified up to date in all markets
  3. Remake of Moonwalker on the Sega Genesis with Thriller included
  4. Opening Neverland to the public as a amusement park with merchandise stands, museum, with on-site villa's and lodgings
  5. Numerous 3rd party tie-in's and inclusions in other forms of media / collaborations such as Fortnite
  6. More album releases, like Invincible special edition, Dangerous special edition etc
  7. Actually releasing the concerts that fans wanted to see and weren't released for some reason
What else i am i missing here?

isn't it sad how we fans did predict the setlist (and it was almost correct) of T40 cause we already knew the estate would release only a minimum of unheard music.. people even predicted "get out of the rain" even though everyone knows its not a thriller song.
This shows a lot..

I understand the frustration completely, believe me, the Estate have made countless mistakes.

With that being said I think we as fans expect too much, because we've been conditioned to expect perfection from Michael.

I think as fans we need to change our mindset and appreciate releases and leaks more, because in the last few years I've noticed we seem to get something new and then look to the next thing.

Sadly there is only a finite amount of material left

Yeah, nothing we say is gonna really change people's minds. So I'm not even gonna bother.

But I will say, the Estate prides itself on being more than just the average estate who empties the vault and puts out live albums.

How many artists, alive or dead, can have a Cirque De Soleil all about them, and then another one that's full time?

And how many can make a Broadway tier musical about them? Maybe Prince could have one but they definitely ain't gonna do it.

(I looked it up. There's one somewhere in the vaults. There was plans to do one, about 5 years ago. We'll see)

My point is, that's how they're the envy of all estates, because their artist continually drives fascination and spirited discussion time after time.

They could release 1 Bad tour concert per year for over 100 years if they wanted to, so I wouldnt say that there is a small amount of material left imho.

When was the fan community forgiving to the Estate? Getting excited over a new project isn't forgiveness.

but isn't buying overpriced merch forgiveness?

what we mainly expect:

- HQ or HD concert releases of all the tours.
- HQ or HD releases of his music videos
- some unheard songs/demos here and there

it's not too much.. it's actually the absolute minimum.
Of course we also would love to get the anniversary releases and bonuses but we mainly ask for those three things and they don't even listen to us. It's really not to much to ask for best possible quality releases of the two things he broke a lot of records with.
What we have in 2023 is VHS low quality recordings while even smaller artists got 4K remasters released of their music videos...

Well....never thought i would ever come to a thread like this let alone agree but ..as a supporter for over three decades, .. .. yes this.
Unfortunately we get nothing and that is a let down ..
It opened my eyes, a huge shock ~ when i started to get restless and look at other artists.

couldn't agree more.

i was SO mad in 2017 when they released Scream. just a compilation and a title track from 1995. zero new songs and horrible mashups.

right after they released Mark Ronsons diamond Megamix. what an horrible mix. again some poor best of mix.

T40 is another abysmal failure. song selection was super lazy and with horrible quality. documentary when? too busy with cheap merch.

this stupid Branca is on tiktok 24/7 talking useless bullshit.

sorry for being mad, but it's so annoying.

unreleased (also unfinished) music and 4k footage should be their number one priority.

The fact is.. we’re are not asking for much:
The things we are asking for have not changed since 2009. but they keep releasing random stuff literally no one asked for while lying in our faces quote „sadly the bad tour was not filmed professionally“…

I lost all faith in the estate back in 2010 and still haven't forgiven them for the Cascio debacle.

Honestly, all my other grievances with the estate becomes minor compared to that whole disaster.

And the artists that i am looking at are deceased too. / similar time frame in career ~So yes , i'm not sure why the Estate seem to want to treat us so mean.

Thank. You.

MJ’s estate is far from perfect, and I comprehend that certain projects are inaccessible to many people, but I’ve used the word “entitled” many times before, and threads like this don’t help that mentality. “They owe us music! They owe us albums! They owe us tours!” Come on, man.

So , we are entitled because we are wondering / asking for the possibility of more? because we miss m that much ? the guy who i, for one supported in youth & beyond for extremely valid reasons? not because of 'gold pants' etc.

I have finally seen how the other side live now. ............been putting that off for years, i, come back to my base and ask...wish ~for a little of what others seem to have 🤷‍♀️ just a fraction ...... .. but i am ' entitled'
Nice.

As with most things in life there are many sides to this.

Mr JT makes some good points. But, otoh ...

There is also this.

I think it's overstating it to use the word 'entitled' when people are merely hoping for more variety in what MJE offers. It's all very well doing the big blockbuster type of projects but there is room for many smaller projects, too, and no reason at all why they can't do both.

So , we are entitled because we are wondering / asking for the possibility of more? [...]
:(

Looking at the care and creativity that goes into the projects produced by other artists or their estates it's hardly surprising that Michael's fans feel frustrated. Expressing the hope that there might be more / better / different projects from MJE seems entirely reasonable to me.

We have many threads that praising the estates projects.. so we can have one to criticize them
Lol, where? Every thread is mostly criticism.

Care? Sure. Creativity? I’d argue otherwise. Every other estate limits their efforts to overexpensive reissues—which, of course, is great. But if that’s all you’ve got to offer for an artist like Prince or George Michael, and you’re putting no effort into spreading their legacy in ways that might actually benefit them, I wouldn’t say they’re all that successful.

I truly think MJ would be more impressed with a biopic or a Vegas residency than another reissue of Thriller.

Thank. You.

I'm not gonna say entitled, I will say I am most interested in the music period. I do wish there was more. I just think it's also okay that they do this other stuff. And that is a unique option they are taking advantage of, as they should.

They could stand to polish these things far more often, also. But truthfully, only T40 to me was exceedingly and truly badly executed. And came pretty much begrudgingly. bad 25 is fine, if you're not an audiophile. Xscape is fine if you're not a pursuit. Michael is fine if you are full time inebriated. Et cetera.

That's not worth even getting mad about honestly. I wasn't paying much attention to MJ for a while, so maybe that's why I didnt care about that.

right after they released Mark Ronsons diamond Megamix. what an horrible mix. again some poor best of mix.
Same difference.

It was for about 4 years. They didn't even do very great with that through most estimates. It got lots of complaints.

DVD quality is HQ. You're asking for Blu-Ray. I want that too.

We've gotten two music videos in 4K, hopefully way more are incoming. Moonwalker is a nice 1080P Blu-Ray so that's something.

And we've gotten an unheard song/demo basically every year since he passed. Pre Leaving Neverland.

A million thank you's for this honest discussion thread @kai
I hope more of Michael's supporters step forward.

The problem is if you put a VHS rip on DVD it doesn’t make it DVD quality…..
