"Michael", a biopic about Michael Jackson, is officially happening.

Any time I've debated guilters, or just members of the public who are ignorant, they've not understood that the media wanted him to be guilty. It would have been the biggest story in history. Such a finger-licking downfall for them to revel in. It would have been the butt of every joke and the front page of every newspaper. You could print money off of that story. As much as the media likes to build things up, they much, much much prefer to tare them down. Few in the media wanted the redemption of Michael Jackson. They told of his greatness 30 years ago, and now its time for a 'different story'.

I remember in the early 00s, just after Living with Michael Jackson came out, I remember on Australian TV there were random, quickily thrown together shows on Michael, basically celebrating his "declining album sales" and the fact that no one turned up to an auction of his items. It should've surprised few that someone who was the "biggest star of the eighties" wasn't selling quite as well in 2001 but apparently being a living legend and topping the charts for over 30 years by that time just wasnt enough. Oh, Invincible only sold as well as a Christina Aguilera or Usher album? That's it. Man's over! Michael Jackson was held to unrealistic standards that only existed because of the incredible things only he was able to do, and when he no longer met those unrealistic standards he was treated like 'less than' those who didnt even meet the markers he was currently making.

Possible unpopular opinion but I really hope the biopic doesn't end with Man In The Mirror. I love the song but ending everything with Man In The Mirror is getting a little too predictable and cliche IMO.

I think Heal The World would be the best song to end with, because it has a message that was very important to Michael and it was in his own words. Heal The World sums up who he really is. Not that MITM doesn't but I'd prefer the film to end with a song that was written by Michael himself.

I’d pick Smile

Who could possibly play James Brown? I know the film can't cover everything but it would be beyond weird, imo, if they don't reference James, however briefly.

Who the hell could play him, though? 🤔
If they do that, they must as well include Fred Astaire!!!
Do we know who will play Elisabeth Taylor? Surely they won't leave her out!!

No, Fred Astaire could be left out or just briefly mentioned, imo. Like I said, they can't put everything in but leaving James out just seems inconceivable to me. Michael was influenced by Fred Astaire but he danced like James.

Elizabeth Taylor, I'm sure she'll be in it. It doesn't need to be a big part that takes up loads of time or anything.

James, Elizabeth, Lisa Marie, Janet. Who else is there?

It would be a shame not to mention the phone call Michale received from Fred Astaire after Motown 25.

I agree that if Fred has to be mentioned, you'd want it to be that moment. I still say that comment from Fred is the best review Michael ever got in his entire career. Fred really understood where Michael was coming from.

I think it would be really nice if they included some of Michael's own teachers (Astaire, Brown, Sinatra, Ross) and also some of his pupils/followers (Usher, Bruno Mars). Although doing that, the movie would have to stretch over his whole lifetime and it would have to be quite long.

I know what you mean mate, I'd go with Will You Be There personally, but Heal The World is a great choice

And a fun question to think about - should politics be completely left out of the movie? Would you like to have any important politicians included that Michael met (Reagan, Bush, Clinton, Mandela)? Should it show Michael meeting Lady Diana? Should Trump be included? They all do show how big Michael was...

Didn`t you suggest Speechless in the past playing over the credits. Have you change your opinion?
I did and I have. I change my mind a lot 😛

If they do pick Smile I hope it will be in a different musical arrangement

Childhood is my choice to be a very focal point & maybe credit song.

The story is upsetting - having a poignant ending will stick with people more.

A quiet scene with Jaafar/MJ singing Childhood acapella would be nice, maybe sitting in his giving tree reflecting back on his youth and the abuse from Joe.

I don't think we will get it but I'd love to see MJ writing stranger in Moscow high up in his hotel suite looking down on a cheering mob outside but for him, he's feeling so lonely.
