Such a bizarre list of number ones in the UK for MJ. We all know he was more of an albums man than a singles artist but still...

Would any of you consider 7 number one singles for such a massive star like Michael poor? He had quite a few songs that reached a peak of 2 in the charts tbf.

Exactly.

Basically, MJ didn't put much effort into the singles. If you didn't like dance remixes there was literally no point in buying any of the singles. Plus, of course, he was very lacking in quantity of output.

7 is a very small number for an artist like MJ. At the same time, Take That had 8 number ones in 3 years. Spice Girls also had 8 number ones in 3 years.

Virtually everything MJ released got to the top 5, they just needed something extra to give them a little boost. Rest assured, if each MJ single had a couple of unreleased tracks on it, plus maybe a CD-ROM, he would have had 14 number ones easily.
